I'm currently "villified" by the NCR and someone from the NCR approached me telling me that I had to improve my reputation with them or they would start hunting me down. How do I improve my rep?

Do things to help them. Some ideas:

AFAIK, anything that harms the legion in a way that hurts your reputation with them, SHOULD raise it with NCR.

There are various towns under their control. Look for quests, and do them with an eye to helping the NCR. Some quests won't actually be tracked in your quest journal... keep a notepad handy for these.

Find the solar power plant. You've got an opportunity to get a good amount of NCR brownie-points here... if you choose to to so (there are other ways to complete it with different results)
