Star Spawn of Cthulhu

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 7:51 pm

You meet these "mini Cthulhus" from the mid-to-last part of the game. But are they really the Star Spawn of Cthulhu? I can only find references to them as "The Beloved of Cthulhu" which are a special type of Innsmouth citizens. However I don't believe there exist any official mention of them in the Mythos....

Any ideas?

There are no Cthulhi in the game at lest to my knowledge. You must be talking about Deep Ones, or Yithians.

They aren't Star Spawn. The Star Spawn are generally the size of Cthulhu himself. What you have there are deep ones that are squid faced like Cthulhu....the exact methodology isn't clear, but some of the text in game implies that they are mutant deep ones, whether through birth or through some ritual isn't clear.

I was right then ^^
I already thought I was wrong while playing CoC myself, but realized that Cthulhi can't be so small.

Actually, no they aren't... The Cthulhi(or Star Spawn of Cthulhu) look like Cthulhu, only smaller. They supposedly built R'lyeh and are mentioned as at one point waging war against the Elder Things in At the Mountains of Madness.

But yeah, I guess the squid-faced Deep Ones are some sort of non-canon abomination then.
