FNV menu freeze

I start up FNV like normal, i double click the icon, and the window opens up showing Play and a few other options. Usually there is sound but this time there isn't. I Click play and it goes through the opening(still without sound) Then it comes to the main menu. i can move my mouse around but as soon as i hover over one of the buttons on the right (Continue, load, New Game etc...) the game completely freezes. I use CTRL+ALT+DELETE to exit it. I try again except this time instead of using the mouse, i use the arrows to navigate the menu. Same thing happens.

I would really appriciate a quick esponse so i could get back to my lvl 30, 86 hour+ character, thanks.

You haven't mentioned any changes that potentially changed things. Do you allow Microsoft free rein to do whatever it wants in the automatic updates area? If so, that could be it, and you may need your last restore back again. And turn automatic updates off, so that you can always have a really recent restore point to undo whatever goes wrong after a MANUAL update that you maintained control of.

Thats wierd, right after this post i got a message saying "Warning, automatic updating is currently off, would you like to turn it on?" or somthing like that. then it froze and... just right now... closed on its own. I have not made any recent changes to my computer. I was just playing FNV fine, closed it browsed the cheats, hits section of the forums then tried to open again and that happened. Oh, and i have my Dxdiag posted now .

Don't get all in a tizzy if this is too simple, but have you rebooted the system since the symptom appeared? I'll look at as much of your DxDiag as I normally do, but a lot of it is unformatted, and I cannot readily pick information out of the blob that results.
