I'm hearing rumors about a Mantis-Gauntlet on the internets

Post » Tue May 03, 2011 9:17 am

The mantis-gauntlet fist weapon.

any fact checks on this? any possible locations? Or is it all just a joke. I've seen in 2 diff forums people mention they bought it off vendors and that it is in game files.

Any hard info on how exactly to obtain it?

read that a long time ago. only thing I can infer is its a very very rare random spawn on vendors since I have checked all of those and it was never there.

was hoping for a more precise way to get one. sadly doens't seem one exists :(

I saw one for sale on a vendor. They really arent very good. yes, they say it ignores armor(it doesn't) and it does have a decent crit rate, but the damage on them is really low and you have to fix them all the time because the DPS is mostly based on the attack speed.

Suppose you can craft one with Mantis forearm and something, but never get implemented?

Okay, so, from the guide it says:

Mantis Gauntlet
  • 2-4 strength needed
  • 75 unarmed skill
  • 10lbs
  • 50 health
  • 150 value
  • 30 attack
  • 30 crit-attack
  • 3% crit multiplier
  • 22 AP

Nothing the wiki doesnt say already. I can't find any mention of a mantis gauntlets location in the guide either.

I think i read somewhere that it's cut-content, like the deathclaw gauntlet. You can get it with console commands though

so I finally got it, and it's killing armored stuff faster than Ballistic Fist, 100% crit rate as well. Awesome.

Yeah, it can easily be bought at Hoover Dam. Other vendors carry it, but only rarely. My character uses a mantis gauntlet.

I think the bottom line is that it can only be found rarely at certain vendors. It was originally intended to be a blueprint weapon, but chopped from the game in that capacity. It ignored armor rating, like the Deathclaw gauntlet from FO3.

It doesn't kill anywhere close to balistic fist. Are you pureposely spreading false info here?

Yes. Thats exactly what I'm doing, my favorite pass time.

It's not like it 100% crit rate and DT ignoring function allows it to kill heavily armored foes a little faster, which is what I suggested.

How do you have a 100% crit rate when that's impossible with a 3x weapon? Max would be closer to 2/3 crit and it would be a pretty gimpy melee character at that. And it doesn't ignore DT, that's simply bad info that''s been out there.

Armored target = 30 DT.

In 10 seconds, the mantis gauntlet can attack about 24 times, ballistic fast about 11 times. 17 crits for mantis, 3 crits for ballistic. Rounding up and counting improved criticals:

All the non crit attacks will do little to no damage for the mantis, leaving you with 17 x 75 - (30 x 17) = 765 damage.

Ballistic fist will hit 8 times for 80 damage(400 damage after DT), and 3 times for 200 damage (600 - 90 = 510)

So whats bigger 910 or 765?

1. I checked in GECK, it says it ignores armor. Maybe theres some internal bug I don't know about?
2. 10% luck. 5%hat. 5% finesse. 15% ninja. 35x3 = lulz? It has a 100% crit chance for me.

As you noticed, it is hitting much faster while critting every hit. As long as the DT ignore is working, thats higher DPS on heavily armored targets.

Anyways, I notice I kill armored foes faster with it. Maybe I'm bugged! Not false info on my part.

Ninja doesn't work like that. Nice try though. It increases your crit rate by 15%, it does not add 15% to your crit rate.

Crit rate in that example would be (10+5+5)1.15 x 3 = 69% crit rate.

But don't let crazy things like facts and math get in the way of your version of reality.

I forgot to mention (cause I have 100's of bug fixes compilations on this very buggy game), but I use a edited FO3 bug mod that fixes Ninja, it's currently listed as a bug. But without it I still have a 80% crit chance, forgot to mention Built To Destroy, as it still killed armored things as fast as Ballistic fist without the bug fix. Ofcourse tho, the fix helped make it superior, as it's an obvious bug. You can keep thinking i'm lying, but I'm not, I'm simply stating what factually happened in my play. Far from being delusional as you stated.

And for the spreading mis-information and living in my own reality comments (flame more), not even sure why you are being so comically hostile when all I'm doing is stating facts from my playthrough. Calm down lol, it's just the internet :)

Dude if you ever had been trolled by Vendure before you would know that's how he commutes to the outside world. He has some strange obsession of trolling on everyone that has different pov about anything. If you told him Corn syrup is technically the same as cane sugar because the human body doesn't tell the difference it breaks it up the same, he would have an compelling argument on nutrition facts and stating the obvious like corn syrup come from maize (or corn) and cane sugar comes from Sugarcane. He would then feel it to be necessary to dawn his intelligence on himself by insulting yours to you. Rinse and Repeat. Lol :cheat: :cheat: :cheat: THEY HAVE THE CHEAT ON HERE!!! AWWWWW MAN, I want to watch some Strongbad now. lol TROGDORRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
