Extremely Stupid Question.....

I bought a hard copy of the game, and steam requires a product activation code, I'm not seeing one. Where is it located on the CD Case or Manual or wherever?

Mine was on a sticker inside the DVD case, placed just below the DVD spindle.

I don't have one there, or in the manual apparently.

Yeah, that'll work.

What else then?

If you have the game, and the receipt and an address. The best choice is to contact the publisher.

I think simply asking the retailer would make a lot more sense.

"it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card."- I don't have either.

I doubt BestBuy would trade for another if its been opened.

I was assuming he bought it open off a ebay/a mom and pop store. Never heard of a game shipping without a serial.

Just to clarify: the case was wrapped in cellophane and had one of the sticker seals attached to the top (which said DO NOT SELL BEFORE 10/19/10) Inside the case there was a manual with no code inside or out it, advertisment card for Hunted,Brink with no code. a added bonus card for the Mercenary Pack with a code for the mercenary pack, which doesn't work for the game. There are no apparent stickers inside or outside the case. The CD has no code either

Well that's the only fast way I can think of him getting a code that apparently is missing

P.S. If your on PC why not just buy the digital download version via steam?
Why put up with waiting for it or buying the box/disk from a retailer?

I just had a Birthday and got a Best Buy gift card, I needed to pick up some Ethernet cables and I thought I might as well get it.

My code was a standard mailing label with the key printed on it. The label was stuck (by hand?) just inside the case beneath the CD (below it, not behind it).

Theres an indent for the sticker but no code.
Edit:
I have no idea if this affects it or not but my case has Games for Windows logos on the top most part of the case(Just wondering since Steam is selling the game not Games for Windows)
