is anyone else annoyed by the fact that you need to download New Vegas? I mean I went out and bought the physical game dvd thinking that I'd be able to play it right away

FONV can be installed straight from the disk.

I can't remember the specifics but if you install things in a specific order Steam will try to download the game instead of letting you install it from the disk. I don't know the work around for this off the top of my head but if you search this forum you should find it.

Don't you install the game on xbox? Your console will last longer and it's MUCH quieter.

thanks Donner!

To manually reinstall from the disc (if available) follow the instructions here: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=5357-FSQM-0382 . Fallout New Vegas still requires a patch after installing from the disc which is about 2.6GB+ but thats a lot smaller of a download then the entire game.

No problem downloading games using Steam. When Steam works, which is the vast majority of the time, it makes acquiring games very easy.

Curious...this is the PC section of the forum, yet here you are posting something that is unhelpful to the conversation.

Maybe he didn't realize it. His comment was harmless, no need to be petty.

Did you read the post? He knew exactly where he was posting and was gloating. THAT, by me, more than qualifies as "petty."

i have installed new vegas two times now and clicking the setup.exe on the dvd always was enough for installing the game 100% from dvd.
the patch download after installation was the only download.

Same here as above, bought the disc copy and had no problems installing it that way. Just popped it in and ran the setup
