Boomers

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:00 am

How do I get to the Boomers? I have the note. I raised my lock pick just to use the south entrance. I've followed the instructions on the note (both options). I've tried everything. No matter how I try to get to their gate, the second I pass one of those no trespassing signs I'm torn apart in two shots. It doesn't even matter that my sneak is at 80 and I equip a stealth boy. I can't hide behind anything because they come from every single angle in the area. I'm at a complete loss as to how I'm supposed to finish the BOS quest or make contact with the Boomers in general.

For the record, I'm going to make sure they all die after this nonsense. Who the hell would side with people that send mini nukes at you for trying to talk to them?

Use the destroyed buildings for cover like that NPC who you make bet with said I get there without getting hit always or you could just run and heal.

Agreed. Run to the fence along the rock wall to your left. Don't even bother with the buildings. They stop firing when you reach the fence. Don't bother healing yourself unless you get a crippled leg while running.

Hi, all.

I should have mentioned I only tried sneaking because all of those suggestions don't work for me. I get demolished when I try to use the buildings for cover. Even if I huge the rock wall from the south entrance, which is literally a tunnel blocking the towers points of view, I still get hit head first with a nuke.

Are there specific houses that work? Because I've literally tried all sides of all of the first few houses and I get hit no matter where I am. Running doesn't really do me much good if I don't have an exact path to go by because if I'm not blocked from the nukes I die in four seconds. Not that I've ever found a place that blocks me from the nukes.

I'm also on very hard, hard core with the weak limbs trait, which I don't think is helping.

Dude the easiest way is to go to the first house to the left and wait inside the destroyed house in front of the top right post of the house. The bombs will hit the car in front of you and around you and wait for them to stop. Then Immediately run towards the fence then along to the gate.

Go left and hug the rocks, but save first.

It's all luck whether or not you make it to the fence before you get splattered. Wearing higher DT armor may help (leather is 15DT and may make all the difference).

I'm playing on hardcoe (but normal difficulty) with the weak limbs trait as well. Just gotta get lucky during the run-in.

I make it by just running in and going NE until i reach the gate. Use medex first and be prepared with Dr bags and super stimpacks.

I have found two things really help with this. First never stop moving which makes sense a moving target is harder to hit. Second try not to run in a straight line. There shots get more accurate each time they fire so zig zag a bit to throw off there aim. There are spots one can take cover briefly if you follow the left wall.

I followed the rocks on the left. I believe it was the north. I also took off all my armor and made sure my arms were free so that I ran as fast as possible. Every time I heard the sound of a bomb about to hit I jumped forward as far as I could. I actually made it to the gate w/o dying on my first try on hardcoe with only 1 damaged limb. I may have been lucky tho B)

Follow the directions in the note?

Don't bring followers if you're on hardcoe they will die.

This is the way.

I've done this several times now and (except for the very first time where I screwed up) I've made it through without being hit.

I have done this a few times on 2 different play throughs. First time I fast travelled away when I got the map marker and permanently bugged the guy at the gate so I would never be able to get to the boomers (don't do it)

I followed the rock wall to your left after the guy makes his bet. There are 2 mini alcoves along the way that keeps you out of the explosions....not really a alcove, more like where one rock wall and another intersect....just run to that spot, wait for the bombardment to stop, and run to the next spot. As far as I can remember, both spots are relatively close to wrecked cars. Just listen for the audio cues when the howitzers are about to start and wait for them to reload.

After getting blown to pieces a few times, i gave up. But heading towards a BOS safehouse, there was a tunnel with a few ghouls in there. you come out on the other side close to the base fence. Run toward the fence, only was bombarded a few times, no problem. Follow it and you will come up on the main gate

I followed the train track up to the right of the guy who bets you cant make it.

Sticking to the left hand side of the train track, it takes you up and round and you pass the tunnel that is mentioned. You get to the fence way down from the gate, but if you walk up the fence to the gate no one shoots at you.

Also i think along the way there were one or two spots on this route where you get out their range so get a bit of respite from the bombardment.

Also, remember to holster your weapon to gain some more speed as well.
