You wouldn't be playing in windowed mode, would you?

If that's not it...not sure. Sounds odd.

Yup, I've seen that. Mostly in the top right corner of the screen; you can see the menu bar and the icon for Falloutnv. It flickers a bit and sometimes precedes a crash.

I use it as a reminder to save. :brokencomputer:

nope not in window mode some kind of glitch, dont think the game can handle steam running in background so trys to go to desktop maybe something like that.

yeah thats exactly it drives you mad lol, like you said mostly on right side, for me usually a long black strip like the side bar but hasnt crashed on me yet.. touch (my head) wood! you would think that would be a big thing for them to sort out cos unless its a graphics card problem most people must be getting it.

I've never seen it personally and I have not seen any other posts about it. (Not to say I didn't simply miss them but I don't think I did.)

I'd vote something on the system is the problem. I have no clue what it is but that is my assumption.

are you using the ingame anti aliasing and/or forcing it through some kind of control center? try deactivating both.

This might be a long shot, but I had something similar with Fallout 3 and that little Windows Gadgets thingy popping through. Might be worth trying to disable any Widgets, Gadgets, doo-dads, etc.

Running XP with no such widgets, gadgets, or thingys. ;)

It seems to happen when the frame rate gets taxed. Like approaching a settlement or when a bunch of landscape gets drawn as you approach it.

PS: I said "right side" but I meant "left side". I should probably drink more coffee before posting...
