Im in the UK, got the game early, due to shopto.net, as they always 90% of the time deliver on thursday.

anyways, this same thing happened with mafia 2, got it and could not install it. due to steam saying " This game has not been released by steam yet yada yada crap"

so anyways.

and install the game, still cant play it, but saves ya a bit of time. when it does get released.
and no you cannot get banned for it.

due to the fact you have the original game, and you got to put a key in.

Pre-loading isn't such a smart idea if you have the game already on disc, though. Strange they don't allow to "pre-install" a hardcopy.

Pre-loading is not better or worst then installing it from the disc. they bring you the same game, so I don't see how it's "less smart". At least during these circumstances, we have to wait till friday anyway, so speed isn't the issue this time.

It's "less smart" because not everybody has fast unlimited broadband so why would you want to waste your bandwidth and time downloading it when you've got it on disk.

When will people learn? STEAM DOES NOT SET THE RELEASE DATE! I'm in England and cannot play until Friday.. its [censored] i know, but blaming steam for that is stupid and ignorant since they do not set the release date.

Forgot about that, we in the Netherlands dont have limited broadband, so it's easy to forget. But yea, for people who dont have that, it's "less smart" .

The release date and time should always be the same for everyone in all fairness. :shrug:

I know folks will hate me for that opinion but I've always thought release dates should be the same for all. In fact I would love to see it the same worldwide instead of later for folks across the pond. Of course, that really would be a busy mess I suppose.

But Steam is the one preventing us from install and patching etc before its released for those who legitematdly bought the game and had the (bad) luck to have it delivered earlyand so im going to be stuck trying to get patches slowly and painfully for a couple of hours (if im lucky and the US is asleep )
