Legion assassin teams

...Or is it like "Trigger one and you won't see another for awhile".

I've discovered several hot spots on the map where these guys seem guaranteed to spawn at least the first time. When you win they drop about 3000-4000 caps worth of loot and it's got me thinking that this is one path to riches in the game. Play nice with CL until you have the tools the crush these teams then anger Caesar. After that just run laps through all the spawn areas every 3-4 days untill the game ends.

Due to patch problems I can't test this for myself just yet. If you have 30+ DT, a Brush Gun with HP ammo or "This Machine" with JHP ammo, the teams are little more than suicide squads eager to die. Nice way to get free 12.7mm ammo as well.

Gamble for caps. Period. :P
The teams seem randomly sent after you. At one point at a lower level, I couldn't get past them on my way to Novac, so I reloaded a save and went a different way only to see them riding my butt into Novac. Needless to say, I got to Boone fast.

Haha, the very first thing happened to me on my first playthrough (since I couldn't resist killing that smug bastard Vulpes Inculta when I first saw him). Though, through some pretty amazing luck, two travelling merchants just happened to be walking past right at that moment (along with their two mercenary guards), so I just hung out with them and we brought down the first assassin team (I also looted the assassins and sold their gear to the merchants right there - felt good, man). Of couse, I was too paranoid to head out on my own after that, so I walked with them all the way to Novac - and I mean literally walked, since outside of combat they didn't run at all.

You should try walking from Nipton to Novac sometime - to say it "takes a while" would be an understatement.

They can be a huge problem to the unprepared. If you are ready for them it's almost "free caps". Need to subtract a visit to a doctor, some ammo and after awhile maybe an armor repair. Per spawn it's a nice profit, but to be really worth it you need to trigger several in quick succession.

Wait where are these assassin team spots? I am vilified by the Legion and they have yet to send an assassin team after me in my 2nd playthrough despite the amount of time I spend just wandering around the desert.
Then again I already blew Caesar to hell with my Gauss rifle so does that mean no more assassin after me? :cryvaultboy:

1: Travel between "Durable Dunn's Sacked Caravan" and "Vault 34" on foot.
2: Travel from Novac to "Old Lady Gibson" on foot. <-- Abused this one to work out tatics on killing them
3: Travel from Novac south along 95
4: Goodsprings source (Around the area somewhere)

If you got Cass with a hunting shotgun and slugs she can do allot of the work while you go strait for doggie-head. Kill him fast and the rest tend to flee.

Same. The only time I've ever seen them (on two characters) is when I become vilified by the Legion and they send the team to tell/kill me.

On my first char that has 75 hours i only ran into one assassin teams after being villified by the Legion since around hour 15, and i triggered them while i was walking from the edge of the Boomer's massive kill zone (i talked to the dude just outside of the kill zone about getting to the Boomers) done south to a little shack with a bramhin in front it, almost got ambushed but ED-E (who i had just got maybe an hour before) played that weird music alerting me to them.

I was'nt friendly with the Boomers yet (first time though did'nt know how to get to them) and the shack i'm talking about is quite a far bit away from the kill zone and to top it all off they spawned from the way i came from blocking the way bewteen the shack and the kill zone, also did'nt have to much trouble with them, killed the light armor two with a increased mag 9mm handgun, and the heavy armor with a custom action hunting rifle.
