Questions regarding the main quests : Fallout: New Vegas

I was wondering if FO:NV is like Fallout 3 with the main quest, as in once you're done the main story you have to revert to a previous save to continue playing on your character.

Also, are the Ceaser/House always wins quests the end of the main story, or are there more quests once you complete whichever arc you decide to take? I'm currently completing the Ceaser quest, but haven't done many side quests (level 14) and was wondering if I should complete it now, or do more side quests first.

Yes to your first question.

Definitely do more side quests, for one you will be hard pressed to finish the final battle
and second the ending portrays how you screwed over or helped all the various factions.

so far you cannot continue once you say you are ready for the final battle (it teleports you there and you are stuck there finishing the game and cannot leave. once it is over the game ends. but you can go do other stuff first and save the final battle for later.
