Can't get into Vegas on console? : Fallout: New Vegas

Did anyone encounter this bug, and if so were you able to fix it?

I was able to go in the first time, but this is on my HC account and I wanted to travel the wastes more, so I went in to kill McCallister and then left. On all my other accounts I've been able to go in and out of Vegas, just not this one. Has anyone been unable to get into Vegas a second time?

I heard there is a bug directly associated with killing McCallister and then just immediately leaving. There is no known fix or way to get around it at this time. I'm afraid you'll have to go back to an earlier save.

Sorry to hear that. But if I can offer a little advice: That's a habit you really ought to be changing. Especially in RPGs.

No I mean I did that quest about 3 days ago. I keep at least 5 saves. That just was about 20 to 30 saves ago

You must have your luck skill maxed to 10 ....cuz today is your lucky day . I've been only a lurker on these forums since getting FONV , but i just so happened to have the same problem last weekend.Seeing your problem swayed me to register just now to give a lil help( my good deed for the day).

Ok, once that cowboy hat leaves the strip the game apparently goes bonkers & you just get a black screen w/ sound after loading into strip.The workaround that worked for me was purchasing an "old cowboy hat" & always equipping before entering strip.Also tried sherrif's hat/duster (since it resembles a cowboy hat) , but it does'nt work. Upon investigating McCafferies carcass on the strip , his hat is still on his decapitated head ....even though i turned it into the AW for reward.

btw- i got the hat from crimson caravan ....& i'm on ps3 , but from searching Google ( when i was stuck) it affects both consoles. Not sure bout PC though.

You could also just go in through the McCarran rail. Which supposedly not only lets you in, but also unlocks it.

as long as he did'nt whoops on letting the monorail blow up like i did,lol. if it were'nt for the hat i'd still be stuck looking @ that damned north gate in freeside.
