Killing the Legion, main quest and ending

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 7:51 am

I'd like to wipe out the Legion's camp (along with Caesar), but will this affect the end battle of the main quest or will Legion guys still be there?

I'm not positive, but I think the Legion would still be there. Despite giving them a crippling blow, and killing their leader, I think they just get a new leader and call in more troops from elsewhere.

Thanks for the reply, though I'll need to be sure before taking them out :)

I had to take out the Legion there because I opted to drag Boone along with me.

Fun times...fun times

In both of my playthroughd, I've wiped out The Fort, and the Legion still shows up. I believe that Caesar's legate, Lanius, becomes the new "Caesar".

it is stated that legate lanius is in direct control of the forces, and caesar is more like their god-king.

I took out the whole fort and was very disappointed it didn't really affect the game in any way :(

neither ceasar nor the fort actualy have that big an effect in the game as thier forces are mostly elsewhere and the main miltary leader isnt in that fort anyway.

Good thing I didn't start a new topic.

Soo...I've spent a lot of time galavanting about the Wasteland. I've been to pretty much every place on the Wasteland map, and have completed a lot of side-quests. I haven't actually been into the strip yet (have visited the immediate area around it though), so I haven't advanced the story any further than that.

Now, I want to attack the fort, and perhaps even the Legate's camp before I enter the strip. Is this possible? I know that you can reach the fort via Cottonwood Cove, but by the time I learnt this, I had wiped out the whole Legion garrison there, and the barge didn't go anywhere. However, do I have to advance the main story before I can head off to the fort?

Only difference is Mr. New vegas saying that he's dead. Nothing else.

Can't kill Legate though. I used a map glitch to get to his camp just to find his stupid tent locked.

Boone has unique dialogue about. Various NPCs will make mention of it. "If Caesar is dead, why aren't the NCR blah blah blah." And you can even taunt Lanius with it. "Caesar giving you orders from beyond the grave?"

Actually not just Boone either. I know Lily said something too. And either Veronica or Cass.

Ceasar will die in the game anyway, even if you don't kill him. He's got an illness that will kill him before the last battle. That's why you don't see him there, and Legatus won't comment on Caesar's whereabouts.

If you wipe out Caesar's main camp, his legate will come with a new army and become the new Caesar, and you'll meet the same resistance at the dam.
