Companion Mission Sidequests

Was really having trouble with Boone's side quest as well as Arcade Gannon's side quest. Think I found out what I was doing wrong and would post it up to help out anyone else who is having problems.

Boone:

With Boone's side quest "I Forgot To Remember" I found the best way to do things was to progress in Camp Forlorn Hope to the point when you are just about ready to attack Nelson. At that point I ran and got Boone bringing him along with him. When I was down in the area with the 3 hostages I set them free and he gave me the speech prompt about me setting them free. After this I went into Cotton Wood Cove and took the boat to Fortification Hill where I killed Caesar with him. Now with this I had to talk to Boone using the radial menu where he talked about killing Caesar and was happy with doing it.

However before you leave Novac with Boone I recommend talking to Manny with Boone near you. Heard this is necessary to flag you, but I did it anyways. Also it is best to talk with Boone about Bitter Springs before hand then talk to him about his wife. I also talked to him about Bitter Springs and about his Wife right after I saved the Hostages with that producing new prompts for me to select. Killing Caesar helped as well and after I talked to him he ran up to me asking if we could check out bitter springs.

It says on the FalloutWiki site that you need +5 history points with him, but saving the hostages + killing Caesar only netted me 4 points. Not sure if having Previously killed the legionaries in Cotton Wood Cove gave me an added point or not.

Arcade Gannon

This one I just obtained and I had trouble with the wording on the Fallout Wiki Site. I progressed in the For The Republic pt 2 quest to the point that when I talked to the Colonel it produces the prompt "This will commit you to one faction do you want to proceed?". I selected "No" so that I could continue onward and right after that I grabbed Ed-E from the Lucky 38 where he was stored. After that I recruited Gannon who did not give me the quest right away.

Instead I took him to the Crashed Vertibird and went through his prompts then went to the Repcon Headquarters where I went through all of his prompts before selecting the [Intelligence 6] option. After that prompt he asked me if he could speak with me for a minute. At that point he offered up the side mission for acquiring his Remnant friends.

Veronica

This one I didn't have too much trouble with and actually bypassed the finding terminal to locate technologies going straight for Vault 22. Inside Vault 22 I Downloaded the Agriculture plans and that's when she prompted me about "This Technology is useful even though it doesn't shoot lasers." Brought this back to the Elder and followed the rest of the mission as normal.

As mentioned I had problems with the Arcade Gannon one probably because the Wiki got me confused. Essentially whatever faction YOU choose you have to progress to the point where you receive the prompt saying you are committed to that faction. At that point you just select no or not right now then go and get Gannon as your companion.

Useful tips thank you, I got Boone's quest no problem but I haven't done Arcade's or Veronica's yet, I will definitely refer back here for those!

I forgot the path for Boone's sidequest, but it started with me pestering him about his wife and stuff like that. And every time he opened up a convo, such as, before the Battle of Nelson, I was always egging him on, and usually prying a bit more about Bitter Springs. I forgot how it happened, but at one point we were at Camp McCarron, staking out the air traffic control tower, when suddenly, he goes, "Maybe you're right. We should go to Bitter Springs." I said, 'sure', and after the mission, Boone, ED-E and I trekked it out to Bitter Springs.

Did all the missions, and talked a bit more. That got the quest completion, I guess.

Ya i'm not sure how things go to be honest and only referenced the wiki to check things out. The one with Gannon eluded me so much and I couldn't figure out why. Starting to think I miss read the Wiki because it talked about Allying yourself with a faction. It didn't specifically state "You must get to the point in the faction quest where you will take part in the battle at Hoover Dam." and at that point you click the option to wait and prepare before taking part in the battle. All it took for Gannon was a trip to the crashed Vertibird and then a trip to the Repconn HQ then he started talking to me.

Boone was definitely a weird one, but I think these are the steps to it:

1. Recruit Boone and Talk to Manny with boone in your group.
2. Take part in the battle at Nelson if you aren't allying yourself with Caesar
3. Chat with Boone after you untie/rescue the hostages. *Note: you don't have to be on the quest for In My Own Back Yard (SP?) to rescue them)
4. Go to Fortification hill and Kill Caesar with Boone helping out *Note: This can be difficult in HC mode I usually park Boone outside the tent then get everyone from inside the tent onto me. They have displacer gloves so it makes it exceedingly tricky*
5. After killing Caesar YOU MUST TALK TO BOONE and you can't rely on him to start the conversation. Wondered why he didn't say anything, but when I selected talk from the radial menu he started talking about how we killed Caesar. After that we pvssyd about Bitter springs and then he started a conversation with me after I exited out of the talk option about going back to Bitter Springs.

Have to look up the stuff about Veronica, but she wasn't difficult to initiate and I think I just took her to the Brother Hood Of Steel HQ which triggered the quest.

Just to add that I got Boone's quest without killing Caesar, who in my game is still alive. The steps I did were as follows, Boone must be in your party during these events:

1. Speak to Manny in Novac about Bitter Springs
2. Free the hostages in Nelson
3. Complete quest "Eye for an Eye" (given by the NCR bloke in Searchlight) by wiping out the Legion in Cottonwood Cove (I used the radioactive barrels)
4. Killed Aurelius of Phoenix at Cottonwood Cove (as part of the above quest)

Every time Boone spoke to me after I had done stages 2, 3, and 4 I spoke to him to exhaust all new dialogue options (which may be hidden in dialogue trees you already tried before). Then a bit later he told me he wanted to visit Bitter Springs and the quest was in my journal. :)
