XP meter gone - anyone had this?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:22 pm

After a couple of crashes the XP meter from the Pipboy has gone! Experience points are not assigning anymore (at least there are no messages in the right lower corner of the screen informing about that like before). The sound of assigning points is still playing when making progress in the game like killing someone or completing a quest, but XP points are not showing. Everything else is in place. If i load a previous save the meter is back again, but I just wouldn't like to loose the progress I've made already. Anyone had this or knows how to fix it?

Try typing 'tm' on the console. Sounds like your hud is off. Or check the HUD opacity level under settings-display in the game menu.

Nope, it doesn't help.. everything else works just fine - all stats are in place, the HUD, the menu, everything, except for the XP meter - it is blank! has no numbers in there... and new XP points are not shown anymore when I kill someone ((

Re-verify files in Steam, perhaps one or more of your XML files that control the onscreen HUD and overall user interface has become corrupted by the crashes you mention. Although that is an oddly specific thing to have go missing... you haven't installed or tried to install one or more incompatible HUD changers such as Darn UI have you?

I'm not using Steam, but I think I found the cause of this problem. Guess it's because I've reached the level cap (I'm currently on level 30). I didn't know about this limitation until now, so I was searching for the 'XP meter bug' which seems nobody ever had. Stupid me. Well, seems that I've gone through more than half f the game (still have some quests left) and I only had a few crashes (which were actually occurring when pressing multiple keys at the same time in the process of a fight). Case closed. :)

How are you not using Steam since FNV is a Steamworks game and requires Steam?
