5.1 Sound problems

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 12:32 pm

Hello guys,

I have a weird problem. I have 5.1 speakers (2front 2 rear 1 center and subwoofer) and integrated sound card HD realtek. In every game it works great. But in Fallout 3 and New Vegas it is really weird.

For example: Speaking with NPCs: sometimes they talk ok... the sound is as it should be. But once in a while, when they switch lines the sound comes from different speakers. And This is really annoying.

and this thing also occurs while shooting and can be noticed with machine guns the most. If I spray a burst, some shots have a really good sound, while other use only some speakers, most notably the subwoofer doesn't work with some shots.

I've searched various websites with no luck... Any thoughts?

Thanks a lot in advance! (BTW I have the settings in windows set right... every other game works well)

Does no one really know??

This thing occurs only in Fallout 3 and New Vegas... any other game works completely fine... Mafia 2 for example...

I also noticed this:
when firing, for example a machine gun, some bullets have the normal sound effect (subwoofer + rear speakers) but other bullets use only the 2 front speakers.
This creates a really annoying effect while firing....

No one can help?:-(

I would make sure the sound drivers are as up to date as possible, just because it works in other games does not necessarily mean all games will work ok. I.T vendors that make gaming capable equipement are constantly refining software for specific game titles such as the Fallout 3 series for example. You would have to check the release notes for the driver to see if it mentions any fixes or fine tuning for any specific game title. Video card vendors are doing this with there driver releases and it would'nt suprise me in the slightest if audio chip manufacturers do the same thing.
