Grass looks awful

Ok, so I finally got around to playing New Vegas, and I noticed that the grass looks simply awful. See pic for reference:

I understand this has something to do with the AA? I have an nvidia GeForce 8800 GT with the latest driver (6.14.12.6658). I have some AA issues with Fallout 3 as well, but it's not nearly as noticable. Any help would be much appreciated!

The last time I had grass that looked like that, it was because I had inadvertently enabled AA twice- I had forced AA through my video card's control panel, and I had AA enabled in the game launcher's settings. Choosing only one method of applying AA fixed it. Something for you to check, at least. :)

Well, I already checked the control panel, and I have the "Let the 3D application decide" option selected.

So I don't know, must be something else...

Try having the launcher redetect your video settings.

Nope, still nothing :(

EDIT: For reference I'm posting a screen from my fallout 3. As you can see, there are some transparency issues with the guy's glasses and the armor, maybe the grass too, but it's not nearly as horrid as in New Vegas...

Does the prob still exist if you renaming your .ini and letting it generate a new one? Have you changed any of the shadow setting on in the .ini that weren't on before?

Ah, I seem to have found the solution. I had to set the "Sreen effects" in the launcher from HDR to Bloom....

Anyway, thanks for all the help guys, it was much appreciated :)
