Game freezes at the beginnin

And i dont know what to do about it, or whats even the problem. My pc is more than able to run it.
Everything is fine up until that point in the game when i begun a new game, did everything the doctor told me to and set foot out his door. 2 seconds later,
the game freezes completely and I'm forced to open task manager. It's really annoyin, since I cant even kick start the story..
Please tell me i can fix it? The games patched, and im running it on xp compatiable mode even though im on win 7, and have the lowest minimum configs possible.

Apparently 1month and a half worth of updates will be released sometime within 3days.

Gotta wait atleast you can even see it =/
I crash on loading...

I had the same problem. My computer should have been able to run it on high quality, but for some reason it crashed every time I walked out the door. Reducing the quality settings worked for me.

Bump. As you can tell, some time has past since the original post.
However this doesnt mean that its fixed. Still annoying as ever.
Whats different is i formatted the pc in this interval, and now the latest patch is installed.
What I dont understand is whether i am the only one suffering this thing? hows that possible? Im in need of some dire help..

BTW, i think i should mention I also tried the fix below, to no avail obviously.

Open up the fallout.ini file

Find the line:

bUseThreadedAI=0

Change it to:

bUseThreadedAI=1

Add another line after it and insert:

iNumHWThreads=2

This will limit the game to 2 cores and prevent the engine bug from causing the game to freeze.

Note. If the game still crashes write this “iNumHWThreads=1″.

When you have that system under some degree of control, then you may have a valid complaint. Meanwhile, that background programs and services total is nearly four times larger than it should be.

Control? Nothins wrong with the machine itself atm, its alive and kickin like it never was. Only a few months old.
Fyi, as i mentioned earlier i tested this on 2 distinct windows instances which further confirms the problem is not on my side.
So please try to be less cryptic and explain what virtual memory has to do with it at all..?

YOu have alot of third party stuff loaded in the background. Any of which could be causing your freezing problem.
Have you tried a clean boot?

You need to verify all third party background apps and services are indeed unloaded after reboot. You can use the task manager to check bg apps.
Go back into msconfig and make sure all non-ms services are in the stopped state. Then try the game.
