UltraLuxe Steam Room Freeze Still Present After Latest Patch

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:58 am

The game still freezes in the bathhouse/steamroom area of the UltraLuxe after going to meet the contact at 4PM. It doesn't seem to do it at other times, just specific to this quest/time. Pretty nasty bug, and I've seen others complaining about it since initial release of the game. I would have thought the patch would have addressed this issue.

I posted a topic on the same issue. I can definitely agree that there is a problem. Made it past by sheer persistence. When I could finally talk to Chauncey, I ran away from the assassin and came back later to complete the mission with Phillipe.

Good luck!

I second that mod. Sure I may have less hair b/c of this glitch..but that mod saved what was left. =)

okay, i'm more than willing to give that a try, but i dont know how to use it. it extracts to a .esp file, i should put that file where? i tried C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data , but apparently thats not the place. someone else has asked on the page that comes from, but people haven't bothered to tell us noobs how to use it, they just say it works great...

****edit for noobs****

okay, put it in the data file described above, and then on the fallout launcher click "data files" and have it selected.

Try this, turn water multisampling to low in the launcher. I'm not even sure water multisampling works with anti aliasing on, especially if you're using your driver control panel's built in transparency AA versus the launch one which ruins all the blood (might want to uncheck that too).

Also, if you made the mistake of editing the default .ini and turning busethreadedparticlesystem to 1 instead of 0, turn it back to 0. If you made any changes to your .ini at all other than allowing mods, revert to default values. All those recommended tweaks actually have a negative impact on performance and don't mean what anybody thinks they do.

If none of the above, try the above mod. I get a choppy FPS in that room but no crashing
