Hello all, I have been unable to play Fallout: New Vegas for several weeks now. I attempt to run the game, but an error message from Steam pops up stating: "Game currently unavailable. Please try again at another time." Needless to say, this is extremely frustrating. I have contacted Steam support many times, but they have failed to provide me a solution that works. I am asking for help here because I am desperate. I am beginning to wonder if I ever will be able to play. But, if there is a way to run Fallout: New Vegas without running Steam, could anyone let me know how? Also, if there are any other solutions any of you might have I would much appreciate them. Sorry, but you haven't come anywhere CLOSE to providing adequate information with which I personally could try to answer you. My clairvoyance isn't working so very well these days.

Really, I don't think that anyone here is able diagnose problems long-distance without much better information than you offered, so it's not going to get any better answer than mine until you actually involve yourself in the problem you are having.

Sorry if I have confused you, I don't quite understand what you mean, but, please, bear with me. I have constantly been exchanging e-mails and phone calls with Bethesda and Steam. Here is a dxdiag, if that helps. But as I said before, my situation is as follows:

1. I click on Fallout: New Vegas.

2. I receive a Steam message saying: "Preparing to launch Fallout: New Vegas."

3. I receive a Steam error message saying: "This game is currently unavailable. Please try again at another time."

4. Repeat...


It does not matter how much I wait, they game is never available. I am not a computer genius, but I have been playing games on them since the first Diablo game came out. I am asking if anyone here knows how I might be able to run the game without simultaneously running Steam, since Steam is keeping me from playing it. I know this may not be the place to ask this question, but if anyone has had similar experiences and can help me in any way, I would worship them. Thanks again. Here's the dxdiag...

Try going to the game's properties in steam and verifying the integrity of the game's cache (it's a button in there somewhere). If that doesn't fix it then try reinstalling the game or steam. If that doesn't fix it then see if you have a firewall or internet security app or something messing with your internet.
