Entering Vault 3 - a bug?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 4:14 am

The first time I entered Vault Three, the encounter was as described: the gatekeeper approached me and asked questions. But since my Speech was not high enough nor did I have a Great Kahn disguise, I turned around and left.

Now I'm back. I am wearing Great Kahn armor and my Speech is very high. But the Fiends inside Vault 3 just instantly attack. How can I make the delivery to Motor-Runner if I can't get past the entrance?

Is this a new Bug?

I had no problem before the new patch from a few days ago. Now this and a few other bugs are appearing (VATS seems screwed up now too). Is there a way I can uninstall the latest patch? I'd like to test it and go back to the previous version. New Vegas seemed to run better and perfectly before this new patch. Is there a console code I can turn off the attack mode of the Vault Three inhabitants? I remember a similiar problem in Morrowind.

you entered a fiend base
managed to escape
lived
and are surprised to go back and get shot at ?

strange person.....

which is exactly what happened to me,so i killed them all but when entering motor`s room i wore the khan suit and he was neutral to me.

neutral enough to do the deal, and allow me to sneak behind him and drop 3 c4 charges
then leave and close door as i didnt want motor guts on my face.

I entered the Vault three or four times (before the new patch) and was approached and questioned and challenged with the same NPC scripts each time. I think IIRC the Friend/Foe indicator on the compass were yellow color indicating a neutral or friendly status. This time when I entered they were all red.

Is there a calm down period perhaps? Should I return in 24 hours or three days?

Actually did you happen to change your companion's from passive to aggressive? For some reason if they are in aggressive mode my companions at times like to shoot first and ask questions later. :brokencomputer:

Thanks for the replies.

IT IS A GENUINE BUG.

I went into Motor-Runners room. He called me NCR even with me wearing the Great Kahn jacket. So I used the "setreputation" console command. Setting it to 0 totally removed my player from the NCR. And sure enough, the NCR no longer showed up in the PIP boy. I left the reactor area. Came back in. Still he called me NCR.

THIS IS A BUG. Broken quest here.

Is there any other command I can use in the meantime to stop him from attacking so we can talk so that I can complete my delivery to Motor-Runner?

You can still complete the quest even though Motor Runner is displayed as an enemy on your radar. Same thing happened to me when i was doing the same quest. Once you kill all the fiends and open up the door to the room which Motor Runner is occupying, do not shoot and you can still start a conversation with him to complete that quest even with him and the 2 dogs clearly dotted red on your radar. Strangely once the conversation is complete, he still doesn't attack.........

Just make sure you tell your companions to wait in another area before opening that door first.

Thank but so far no luck.

Motor-Runner says one thing to me that I'm with the NCR and the conversation abruptly ends and he attacks. My companions are not present. Just me and of course I win the battle and the quest fails. Reload try again.

I think it may have something to do with the Motor-Runner Bounty Note I'm carrying from the NCR. But the game script should permit the Kahn jacket to disguise me in order to make the delivery.

I need the console commands to fix this.

I just visited The Vault wiki.

There are many reports that the quest Aba Dabba Honymoon is highly bugged as it relates to a few other quests (including I Put A Spell On You) and Vault 3 and its inhabitants. Seems that Motor-Runner and his conversation topics are bugged as well as the entrance to the vault conversation topics are bugged.

I hope this gets fixed real soon. And I hope it'sd still playable by me.

I went there for the Brotherhood quest and they believed I was a Khan even though I wasn't wearing a disguise. What I thought was funny is I offered to sell my chems to him and would agree but the transaction never occurred. They were still friendly when I came back to kill them. Clearing the vault was a riot.
