What up with nothing to do in most building's or being locke

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:08 am

I have not found every place in this game yet but I have found most, what's really bugging me is it seem's like the Devolper's got a bit lazy this time around, for example just look at the Searchlight Airport why make such a huge Airport and Building if you can not even get in the Building's and if you can get in I can not find away in them, there are many other building's around New Vegas like this as well look at the Samson Creek Rockcrushing plant can not get into any build there, look at the VeryHard door to the train tunnel near Nello's Airbase there are a few Ghouls and mines to disarm in there but nothing of any interest.I don't know about the rest of you guy's but there seem's like there's less to do in this game and there are not as many strange Quest's to be found be just wandering around.

Thank you! I'm not the only one.. Hate to break it to you but it's like that for pretty much all the areas.. They did a terrible job with the locations. I remember Fallout 3, there were some many marked and unmarked buildings you could stumble upon and when you were inside there was just it's own little story. This game certainly doesn't surpass it and doesn't come close to it's brilliance.

I was thinking the same thing the other day when i playing. when there is a building, you can only go into a few rooms to look around in. In fo3 you could be in some building for a few hours just giong trough every room and desk

I know a different Team Developed this version of Fallout I sure wish they would have left it in the hands of Todd Howard, what I can not get over is there is so little to do in this game when compared to the last and yet they took about the same time to develop this version and there are a ton of bugs and glitch's,what were they doing all that time.Plus what's up with the Steam Crap almost everyother time I go to launch the game and Steam Launch's the Fallout Screen where you click play game or whatever it say's then the game fail's to launch. You would almost think with how little there is to do in this game when compared to the last and all the bugs and glitch's plus the Steam crap you would almost think they are trying to make everyone who bought this version so turned off by it that they won't buy the next one.

Actually Fallout 3 took about 4 years while NV took 1-2 years? Even so they already had the engine which makes what they came up with seem even more pathetic. I honestly do not understand the fan boys who defend this game as if their life depends on it. Ya the story was alright, NOTHING amazing. The rest of the game? Well, fail..

Yes, it is very stupid. How about the huge air traffic control tower, and building at Nellis AFB. Most locations I find aren't even fun to explore, because you never find anything of interest.

They rushed the release which was one of the dumbest things they could've done. I honestly was not hooked on this game and it seemed to drag on and on. I don't want to put all the blame on Obsidian but I think they screwed up and I haven't enjoyed many of their games. But that's just my opinion. They also lacked the pure randomness like in Fallout. For example, the most random thing I've found in NV (that wasn't with the Wild Wasteland trait) was a dead body with a party hat on, on a marked location.. In Fallout 3 there were plenty of things such as a random holotape talking about the Capitol Wasteland, Nuka-Cola trucks filled with no other than Nuka-Colas, a random fridge in the middle of the wasteland with two groups fighting over it, Radroach King on his throne, unmarked buildings with interesting stories and what not on the computers, holotapes, notes, etc.. Fallout New Vegas, you got my hopes up for a game that could surpass Fallout 3 but failed miserably. Now as much as I hate on it it still isn't a bad game, just seems that way when compared to Fallout 3. Eh, I can rant on this all day but I hope you see my point.

I kinda agree... I made an inside cell for a dungeon in absolutely no time at all, its not that hard... It was a bit of lazy development there.

I have to agree. While the game is good in its own right, and may have a larger world then Fallout 3, it just feels, empty. There are many locations, but they have no real draw to them. Nothing to learn, no mystery behind them.

The good thing about that though is there is a lot of room for modders to have fun with.

I have to agree most locations and buildings left my explorer side hanging. As for the Op's example of Searchlight Airport it's just a runway with 5-6 rad scorpions, very lack luster indeed.

As for the counter argument of go mod your own content, some of us don't own New Vegas for the Pc or even have a PC capable of running the game.

I believe that several of the locked areas are for future DLCs or modder add-ons

Last time I checked FO3 had tons of buildings the PC couldn't enter. So what's the problem again?

Oh bother.

Closed for rules check. Might open again, but then a few people probably won't be posting in it again anytime soon.

Sorted and re-opened - for constructive discussion.

I believe the problem is MOST buildings in the wasteland you can't enter. FO3 also had tons of
buildings you could enter, and most were very detailed.

Once again....this game was rushed.

I think compared to FO3 the fact that the buildings are just boarded up in NV feels like a cop out, even though FO3 did a similar thing in DC with the buildings, it felt more plausible because of the rubble.

not only buildings though, there are ant hills and mole rat burrows you think you could get into, but no its just a placeholder.

I wouldn't have minded if they gave all the blocked up buildings a cell that was like 'building cell 1' out of 5 designs. Bethesda reused dungeon maps in random caverns and dungeons, and even though it was a bit samey, it made the exploring feel less limiting.

Instead of, "Naw you don't wanna go into the boarded up building its boooring".
