First off, I'm fine with the whole Online Activation, Steam, etc. But here's the thing. I travel a lot for work (1-2 weeks per month) so I use my laptop as both a gaming and as a work rig. I'm planning on installing NV for those hours I'll be spending in hotel rooms, airport waiting areas and on various airplanes. But Internet access in those places can be very expensive. The plan, as always, is to install and activate while online at home and play completely offline, because who wants to pay $12.95 for a few hours Internet access while waiting to get on a plane that most likely will not have wifi available?

So, of course, my big question is whether or not I can actually play completely off line or if I absolutely have to have an internet connection to play. Like I said, I've no problems with online activation, CD checks or the whole concept of DRM. I figure that developers have every right to protect their intellectual property via what ever means they feel is appropriate. I just want to be able to play the game without having to pay $10-15 every time I play.

Thoughts, suggestions or sympathy is welcome from all.

Once activated and installed with an internet connection, you can play NV by running Steam in https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=3160-agcb-2555, so an internet connection is no longer required.

What is the online option like for PC?

Note you still have to go online once in a while... but I've had steam go for two weeks in offline mode once.
