DirectX woes

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:17 am

I am running a system with XP SP3 and above specs with DirectX 9.0c installed and operating with no problems.

I downloaded FONV D2D and ran the steam installer and this gave me a FONV icon on my desktop.

Pressing this led to a first time startup which stated it was installing DirectX despite the above and then a box appeared telling me the application fails windows logo testing and will be stopped.

At this point the computer starts to freeze and then requires a hard reset as even task manager does nothing for it.

I have had no other problems running any other game ( Crysis, Oblivion, Dragon Age etc.) it is just this first time run with FONV.

Is there any way to get around this and just run the game or get it to not attempt DirectX install?

Any help appreciated, spending £30 for a game I can't play is not great.

Your existing DirectX has been corrupted in some manner, and is preventing the updates. You have a Microsoft Windows defect to correct before you can install Fallout, and need to seek halp on Microsoft's site.
