Fallout dev - Is it really what u want?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 10:10 am

Why does Fallout only start with steam?

Every Time i try to start Fallout i have Problems with f*****g Steam, i hate the "Steamstarter" for new vegas, it is buggy and the dev who wrote the code was trunken!

Why do u use Music from Fallout 2? Is it Fallout 2? No!
So, why do u not develop a copy of Fallout 2 in 3D to make a start after the leading "Interplay"-Development of Fallout 1 and 2, if u have to copy music from it?

Fallout 3 is so buggy, then, if u use Steam, it is buggier than ever before, i dont understand the idea of this!? Protect from copying?
If anyone want to copy the [censored] gamesas-Game, he will do it, with steam or not!
Fallout New Vegas is buggy too, is it possible to write code, who did not crash my system? (win 7 64bit professional)
PLZ TALK TO INTERPLAY IF U HAVE EXTENDED CODEPROBLEMS, because Fallout 2 didnt crash anytime in win 7 64 bit and it is not my problem if u cant write code, i only see the crashes for $50 and so on...

If steam is persistenst in future releases of "Fallout"-Games, it is the last time i bought Fallout from "Mr. (Bug)-gamesas", because i dont want to track my gametimes online and let it anolyze with marketingstrategic sellingsystems.
(Greets from big brother!, for Example: User-related advertising in steamstarter)

Last thing i have to say: "NVLauncher has occured an error!" Why i cant send the error to gamesas? Do u know the errors already?

I know, I know, my english is very bad, but i think, i said all.

Have a good buggy day with gamesas.

Bad rant is bad.

Tip for the future. If you want to be taken seriously, try a few things.
1. Proper grammar
2. Accurate information
3. Some common sense
4. More accurate information

Effort goes a long way when trying to make a point.

Oh i c, (c = see)

ok next time, i write german text if you setup a german board!

If that's all you have to say about the general bugs and hangup procedures (yes i can post systemlog, but it would be helpful if you give me a tip how i can track those bugs, but you didnt), TIP FOR THE FUTURE: dont post answers if there isnt an answer in there!
SRY I CANT TELL IT MORE ACCURATE BECAUSE GAME CRASHES differently in any situation, beginning from try to start Steam until i want to logout from game (sometimes game hangs up if i try to logout)

SO, next time dont spam forum... with bad rant...

Have a nice day...

Have a look at this thread. http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1120441-please-read-before-posting/

This isnt official tech support. I very much doubt the developers will even look at this thread.

That being said, Have you tried the official tech support?

Have you tried troubleshooting the problem? I have had no issue with the launcher or steam.
I have windows 7 64-bit too and zero crashes on my steam fallout 3 nv. I play other steam games with no issues as well.
There really is no steam launcher for new vegas just the drm stuff such as logging and and making sure the game is registered
on your steam account.

You could start with posting a dxdiag and some detailed information about what is happening.
Do you use mods? DO you play other steam games at all? If so do they crash?
Did this behavior just start or has the game always crashed? DO you play any other non-steam games? Do they crash?
Try to include as much as you can.

Hello jasper1979,

i appreciate your professional answer!

OK, so, i dont want to make bad advertisemant, but the devs should try to make a better test before release a bugged game, i thought they learn about bugs in the past, but they didnt, thats why im angry and im not alone with this problem.
Thats not my problem if they dont take a look in this post or in "hardware and software issues", but they should or i dont buy any Fallout-Games from Bethesda, because Interplay do it ways better and the big question is, why do they setup a forum with "Issues" if they didnt take a look in there? Thats very pathetic.

i read it, but the main problem is to start Fallout New Vegas with the Steamlauncher, most of the time, the launcher will hangup, so i cant play and i have to try it again until it starts correct (mark the game in the steamsoftware and spam return-button, then hope it runs correctly)
But i will try the "Water - Supersampling" .... if it starts correctly...

That being said, Have you tried the official tech support?

No, but i think its time to do it, thx anyway (mean: cantact the tech-support, troubleshooting the proplem)

I play other steam games with no issues as well

So, i dont play any other steamgames, i try to dont buy games with steam, because i dont like it... (maybe u should read my first post about marketing-related advertisemant)

I see, but explain the following to me plz (cut of app-log-administration after the launcher hangs up and sorry for the german text, but i think you will understand the log):
"Name der fehlerhaften Anwendung: FalloutNVLauncher.exe, Version: 1.2.14.0, Zeitstempel: 0x4d5f0be9

ok, ...

http://wp-crysis.de/www.wp-crysis.de/DxDiag.txt

Do you use mods? DO you play other steam games at all? If so do they crash?

No, i like to play the game first without mods, so i dont use any modification (original game installation)

Did this behavior just start or has the game always crashed? DO you play any other non-steam games? Do they crash?

Most of the time, i cant start the game, because after i start the game via steam it will hangup and system-window pops up and says, "What do u want to do? Close application, search online for..." ... i think u know the standard window...

and yes, i play other games, old and new games like the fallout-series and crysis, but it didnt crash, except fallout 3, it crashes irregular and if i install all DLCS for Fallout 3 it crashes more times.

Hope i can solve the problem with the new infos and your expertise :/ and thanks again for your help :) it was better than the other post of Echonite ^^

The launcher you see is really the fallout new vegas launcher nothing to do with steam.

The error message refers to the gameoverlayrenderer.dll which is the steam in-game popup overlay that you can bring up.
You can access your steam account, friends lists, chat with friends, even surf the web in steams web browser.

Steam does have problems with other programs that also provide there own kind of overlay. You might try disabling the overlay in fallout all together.

Go into your steam library and find fallout 3 new vegas. Right click and select properties. There should be a check box labeled enable steam game overlay. Uncheck (remove) the check from the box and click close.
Try to start the game.

Thank you for the fast response,

im wondering about me, because i should have the same idea, im a stupid [censored] LULZ :)

So, anyway, it didnt solve the problem...

...independent from this, FalloutNV.exe has an error until i played and hangs up, i have to kill the task with taskmanager, because it freezed until playing.
This happens very often in different situations, i dindt see a pattern, you know? (same problem i got in Fallout 3, but i thought its ok, for a game like fallout with extreme dimensions, but now, it occurs way to much and i dont have much fun)
Sometimes, error occur in buildings or outside, or in any other situations, but i cant see any typical keypress or action who produces the error!

Is there any way to check graphic settings or should i use automatic settings?

Ok, i see that the problem is not directly the steamsoftware, but fallout 3 starts without any errors and fallout 3 new vegas did not, the only thing who changed, is the steamsoftware, so, i dont have to be a professional, to say, it is the steamsoftware in combination with the game who produces the error.

Ontime i have no sulution to fix the GameOverlayRenderer.dll and i have no idea to fix the hangups (freeze) until playing the game, if i can start it ^^

Sometimes it freezes after 5 minutes, and sometimes it freezes after 3 hours. :( i accept the freezes, because i cant have all ^^ LOL but if i cant start the game, it is too much for me.

Im done with my academse LULZ and if i cant find a solution im done with Bethesda and Steam.

Thank you for your help, but i think i have to contact the support and i hope they speak german ^^

Update about freezing while playing Fallout New Vegas :

After 1 hour of trying to restart the game (it was starting only 5 times) i tried to talk to "Chauncey" in bath at 16 o'clock, every time i tried it, the game freezes and i have to kill the task via taskmanager. :(

Freezing fixed, with a lot of work and insane tasks -> http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1175111-game-keeps-crashing-non-stop/

IF ANYONE HAVE PROBLEMS TO START FALLOUT, (Error/Bug with GameOverlayRenderer.dll)

1. go to your steaminstallation folder,
2. open "SteamApps" folder
3. open "common" folder
4. open "fallout new vegas" folder
5. start FalloutNV (if steam is not running error should popup one time, but try again, if steam is running, game starts instantly without the Launcher)

Thank you for reading, have a nice day.

(Im wondering about thatht no moderator can help, im reading forum since 4 or 5 days and i dont c any posts of moderators in here, LULZ NUUBS)
