What faction are you favoring...?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 1:01 pm

I'm trying to play as righteous as I can be...

At the NCR correctional, I went in as disguised as a Powder Ganger member, and thinking about killing them all off ninja style lol

I cant wait to do more characters, and dive into each faction and see how the story develops differently for each one... Awesome...

Whats your thoughts, what are you following suit to your first playthrough?

how the hell did you get into the NCR correction facility? It's blocked on all sides with no way of getting in for me.

For now I'm trying to stay loyal to the NCR. Who knows, that could always change :flamethrower:

I will do the 'good' guy thing until I finish the main quest. Then, if the game is like FO3, I may side with the Legion and enslave raiders for fun and profit.

Kill every mother flipper you see and walk in the front door ;)

I took a pot shot at one in the courtyard and he ran outside and opened the gate to come throw dynamite at me before I shot him in the face.

That's it you can go anywhere inside like you own the place

I wish I'd known about disguises when I went to the correctional facility. So many crippled limbs from the waves of baddies.

The entrance of the facility is on the West - Northwest side of the area, iirc.

I don't get it. I barely got hit clearing this entire camp and that includes the sub-buildings inside it. I've only taken limb damage one time during a fight with mutated creatures though that were very fast.

Just snipe the guards in the towers from up on the cliffside, you can even take one or two additional guys from courtyard. Stragglers will walk through the front gate (you can keep the high ground or just go down and deal with them).

Slowly move inside to see where enemies are (just inside buildings), walk in and tell them to say hello to your little friend. Move over to a corner as your firing for some makeshift cover. They're dead, you win. Eat a gecko steak or two and you're fine lol

It was over a dozen guys in total very easy to manage though *Shrug* I would ask what difficulty you played on but the sheer lack of times I was hit makes that almost a mute point unless you are on Very Hard and takes forever to kill stuff. I play on Hard with hardcoe mode, used a Varmint Rifle, 9mm Pistol, and a shot or two from Shotgun to dispatch this facility and its sub buildings.

The guys on the towers were no problem. My Varmint rifle was out of ammo by that point. And Gecko Steak does not heal limb damage on hardcoe. Limb damage accumulates until you see a doctor or use a doctor's bag. So when four guys come barelling out of the door at you, you can't kill them all before a couple get a shot off. I'm usually able to kill one or two before they can hit me. Toss in a third and fourth and I'll take some damage and need to spend time reloading to kill them all.

Developer - "But sir it really is a republic" Me - "LALALAL Empire lalalalala"

On a more serious note if the NCR isn't badass enough for me then Im going to conquer the mountains, my Capitol will be Jamestown.

The Major faction? I'm favoring Mr. House. Before it was just pre-release fanboyism. But now, I can really relate with his character so far.

Outside of Mr. House, usually if it isnt some kill blindly faction, I try to be kind. I'm currently liked everywhere or neutral save the NCR Powder Gangers, havent been there yet and I'm STILL hated by them

Thanks for the explanation on how limb damage works but I do know :P It sounds like your problem was any or all of the following:

1) You ran out of ammo.... I hope you meant you were reloading but the fact you got swarmed by multiple guys after suggest that is not the case. They should have never swarmed you if you were sniping properly because they would have never seen you. Get on a farther higher rock I guess lol... I sniped more than just the guard towers from a single position including the named guy standing out front. None of these fired a single shot before they died. Don't just start spam firing your rifle, wait for a headshot when you are hidden. Take it. If you hit, great, wait until you are hidden again. If you miss, wait until you are hidden again. If you see them coming dangerously close to your area, MOVE. Rare you have to worry that much but just giving you a checklist since you found this challenging. You should never have 4 guys "barreling" at you or you arent doing a very good job of sniping. You can also see the guys in the courtyard from many vantage points.

2) You went in to a raid with limb damage? I dunno why you would do that hopefully you just meant those were the injuries you got during the fight. Again the only time you should have been close is after you cleared half anyway.

3) After the above is done properly you can just walk in the front door and clean up stragglers. When you walk into the sub-buildings you just start opening fire (i was crouched and suprised myself but could still react before any damage was sustained) with your 9mm or shotgun and they will start to panic a bit. Yes they are shooting at you, but it's also a relatively small space with a handful of guys who are equally suprised so it's not a hit squad or anything. Run near some makeshift cover (i just ran over by the bar to avoid taking every bullet) and that's all you have to do (and aim your gun). I didn't use VATS for any of this raid so it's not that hard.

If you think you will be overwhelmed that seriously setup some mines or use a grenade to help you, but if that is your problem more often than not, you should recheck your strategies. I often employ the mine strategy with huge packs of mutated creatures and lure them into the trap.

I'm playing on hardcoe also and have only gotten limb damage twice, both times by a mutated creature and not a NPC. NPCs are very easily outsmarted and outmanuevered. Deathclaw not so much (although you can still apply the mine tactic to them and then they are slow as turtles heh)

Best of luck in future firefights! :)

Disguises are nice.

Watch out for guards though. After dealing with a few from a remote location, I walked right up wearing their clothes :D

I prefer Caesars Legion, the NCR invaded the correctional facility when I was not in a disguise, didn't even cross my mind to get into a disguise, so I wasted all the NCR troops, now I'm hated by the NCR, and there are rangers coming after me that remind me of the highway patrol man that pulled me over last week...

So there's no going back to the NCR, without a disguise, and the New Vegas strip is a racketeering process, just like the NCR, tryin to charge me 2,000 caps to get in, I'll obey the law this time, only so I'll have the opportunity to Render Unto Caeser

I am really more aligned with the small towns like Novac and Goodsprings. Not at all favored with a Faction, playing it by Last Man Standing rules. Me, Myself, and I...... :flamethrower: I AM WARGHOUL!!!
