I have had my Xbox for 2 years. It is the Halo 3 limited addition. I got FallOut Vegas when it came out and for the first 3 days, the game would lock up at least once a day. Last night, it started locking up every 15 mins (my Xbox is in a well vented open space and I dont think overheating was the issue). I really think the game had something to do with it. Has anyone heard of this happening? There is a place locally that fixes this problem, I just worry that when I get it back the game is going to lock up again.

If your Xbox heated-up to the point of failure, then something is wrong with the Xbox, the power coming into it, or the environment it is in.

Questions such as: How much dust is accumulated around the fan? How often have you cleaned that out as well as the exhaust vents on the case to ensure clear air flow? - come to mind.

There could be many causes, but the game itself did not kill your machine. It worked the machine hard, but the software can't force the hardware off a cliff - the box overheated.

About two years ago when I sent my console off to be fixed after rrod, they asked me what game I had been playing when it happened. I don't know how relevant the question was to the problem though.

It's possible that your Xbox is just finally dying.

Or your Xbox just can't handle the awesomeness of Fallout New Vegas.

The game has noting to due with it. You could have had Naruto in there and the same thing would have happened.

Sorry about your luck though. I got the RROD 2 years ago on a 6 month old xbox. My refurb hasnt pooped out of me yet, somehow.
