When I play New Vegas on Pc the graphics look pretty horrible on even the highest settings at an average 95fps, all my other games look amazing though, including Crysis 2. My computer is a Dell Studio 540 with a Dual-Core 2.6GHz processor, 6GB RAM DDR2, and my graphics card is a Radeon HD 5750 with a 500w PSU. Any ideas or is my rig just not right for the game? Oh and I have Vista 64-bit.
Cant help you much here without either being at your computer or looking at some screen shots or something. Realize that fallout 3 new vegas uses a dated engine and dx9. You wont see any of the latest effects they use in games like crysis 2 such as ambient occlusion or sun bursts. There are other effeects as well that are only available in dx10 or dx11 (short of someone emulating the effect in dx9).
Graphics are a largely subjective thing. What looks fine to one may not to another. Assuming your computer doesnt have some weird setting or configuration or your game isnt doing something weird. You might want to check out some mods that can help with fallout 3 nv asthetics. I dont know of any since I havent looked to see what the modding communities been up to but its worth a look at.
Are you playing with the graphic settings in game or from the initial popup menu on the desktop? What res do you have it set at?
