From what I gather your problem is low performance on a fairly high-end system., but there is absolutely no reason for you to need a a GTX 570 to run this game. I easily get 100+ fps running on a single 470 and i7 920, AA and AF maxed. Absolutely sure you have the latest drivers installed for your video card, sound chip, motherboard, keyboard/mouse/webcam/etc.? Any chance of spyware or viruses? Make sure you install DirectX 9 (does not come included by default with WIndows 7), the Visual C++ runtime packages (2005, 2008 and 2010), and maybe all the .NET Framework packages just to be safe.

If you have done a 100% clean install, are fully updated, and still have these problems, I don't know what to say. Sounds like a bizarre hardware conflict or maybe even a BIOS issue. I would get into contact with your motherboard manufacturer and/or video card manufacturer and ask them if there are any known issues like yours.

Dunno whats causing it, I've got an 965 BE as well and "only" an GTX460 but get more than enough fps to play it smoothly.

Even on my old system (C2D 4600 @2,4GHz and 9600GT) it ran pretty well.
So there's some other problem here.

I don't know if it works with the new patch because I am intentionally trying to block in from happening, (running in offline mode and disabling the internet when I active Vegas.)

But this is worth a shot. It stopped my crashing every 5 minutes anyway.

http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35262

(4GB Fallout New Vegas) It basically enables the game to run on Large Address Aware, which is supposed to prevent crashes somehow,
I don't really know what that means too be honest, but as long as you have 4+ gigs you should be good. Also like I said, fix my problems.

Go here for a version that plays friendly with NVSE.

Use the 2nd Link in Post #38 for a Version that works with NVSE.

This seems too keep Fomm's load order however it bypasses the games default launcher (and Fomm for that matter) and launches the game right after you click the .exe.

If you need to adjust your load order, launch Fomm, tweak the load order, then close Fomm and launch from the exe in the download.

(You might need to launch from Fomm, save the game, then launch with the .exe provided.)

Make sure to set power management to max performance in the fallout3nv nvidia profile. You using any mods? What framerate does it drop down to?

No mods atm; but the 4GB patch REALLY REALLY HELPED.
I also changed fps clamp to 60 and its playable now.

But I take suggestions: what mods should I get to enjoy a better new vegas experience?

Before it would drop to 3 or 4 fps. Now it only drops to 30 ish. But I get 120 fps when I'm not looking at an npc.

When I changed fps clam to 120 weird stuff happened. WEIRD STUFF.

A World Of Pain
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38719

IWS-Increased Wasteland Spawns
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38623
(I would recommend medium spawns, high has a habit of owning systems, even great ones.)

MONSTER MOD
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=41361

Detailed Normals - Texture Pack
(taller grass is fun but only if you use it for awhile, after awhile it just gets annoying. it would be cooler if you could set it on fire. think farcry2)
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38196

NV - Terrain Recreational Project HD
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=38800

(This adds more trees)
KDS Green World
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39089

(This changes the way trees look, it makes them look much better. If you install the mod above do it first, then this 1.)
Vurts Wasteland Flora Overhaul
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39856

The list can go on and on... I would add some new weapons too.

I would also recommend NVSE when it catches up (if it hasn't already) and the 4gb version for that.

Once you have NVSE working properly,

Project Nevada
http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=40040

I don't have a link, because it currently under review, I am not exactly sure what for, but the author is pretty good about giving credit where it's due and he's pretty widely known, so I am going to threw it out there.

Book of Earache. (This mod adds a load of weapons with new functions, such as selective firing, everything from semi-auto, 3-round burst, and full auto. Also, night vision, inferred, and FLIR scopes.)

(this mod requires CaliberX also made by Earache which can be found here. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39981)

Other then that just poke around on Nexus. It the best site to go to for mods.
