For this newest Fallout I really wanted a special edition copy like I bought last time. Best Buy was the ONLY retailer listed BY Bethesda that had PC versions of the new special edition New Vegas. Were there any other retailers that had copies released to them direct from Bethesda that were NOT listed on their website?

I'm wondering because early (5:45) on release day I bought a SE copy from Best Buy. I received no email confirmation, but luckily I HAD printed my confirmation page. By 6pm the next day, Best Buy's order tracking system showed that the order is still being processed. Their website says that processing should take 0-1 day, so I called them about the delay. I was given a bit of run around, but I kept pushing for more information. I straight up asked if it was back-ordered or not in stock, and if so, why it was offered for sale if that had been the case. The guy at Best Buy kind of dodged around those questions and said that my order request had been sent to two their two main warehouses with no response. He did repeat what my confirmation page said, which was that my order should be expected between the 22nd and 27th. I asked him to send me a copy of the confirmation email. A short time later I get an email stating that my game is now backordered.

Frustrated, I go onto Amazon.com to see if they had any PC SE copies for sale. Amazon themselves were not offering it, but some of their 3rd party sellers were...for $174+!!! One seller had three copies available, the other sellers just had singles (including a brand new account with no sales history). Basicly I'm wondering if these were copies that were released to these sellers, or whether they're getting them from "other sources".

You probably should have pre-ordered.

I'm not sure if F:NV has a large # of collector's editions made or not.

I pre-ordered from EB Games here in Canada. We have GameStop here as well.

The shipment of PC CE came from the courier to the store after the store opened on October 22nd. In this case, I think the retailer only orders however many copies they had pre-orders for.

Best bet is to phone all your local stores and see if they have a copy - Target, Walmart, Future Shop, Best Buy, GameStop, um, I dunno what others. Any store that sells games might have it.

That may have been the case in Canada, but not in the US. Pre-orders on best buy were for the digital copies only, and Best Buy was the only retailer listed that showed the PC special editions as being available. Futurestop has them but for in store purchase only. Unfortunately too far from SO-CAL for me. Gamestop wasn't on the list but is now shows them as available online...I'll see if any are local and if not then I'll try ordering online through them instead

Yeah! I managed to score their last in-store copy for PC! Thanks for the idea...I guess that Bethesda had "favored" retailers that were listed, but others also had the ability to get copies.
