Where's the Multiplayer?!

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 8:05 am

It seems like every game has multiplayer these days, so what's up with Fallout not having it? I think it would be awesome if the multiplayer is kind of like how red dead redemption's works. You could explore the whole mojave wasteland with your friends, killing mutated animals and deathclaws along the way, go up to Charleston Cave and take out the nightstalkers, or destroy one of the faction's camps, you can, making enemies along the way! Kind of like gang hideouts. Just throwing it out there. Any other ideas on how a multiplayer mode would work for FNV, thus making it MORE awesome? Discuss...

You must be new to the standard role-playing fps. Let me put it to you simple.

They're single player.

For starters if they did that they would have to rework the entire balance in the game to fit more players. Like drops and such. Plus, the wasteland is pretty barren for more than one person. I mean it would be too easy with 3+yourself players running around. and v.a.t.s probably wouldn't work. They would have to add way more npc's and ai enemies and... just wait for the fallout MMO. Because someone would have to rework this entire game for multiplayer to be a success.

This will be locked since multiplayer discussions are frowned upon but here's the rundown.

When Bethesda bought the rights to Fallout from Interplay there was a clause that allowed Interplay to retain the exclusive rights to create a Fallout MMO provided they raise XX amount of funding and begin production by XX date. I forget the exact values. Because of this Bethesda cannot create multiplayer Fallout games or modes. Last I heard Bethesda was trying to sue Interplay for breach of contract saying that they failed to meet their goals set forth in the sale agreement and seize control of multiplayer rights but Interplay was disputing this. I haven't heard anything about that recently.

Not every great game needs multiplayer.

Plus, Fallout + Multiplayer = Ridiculous-ness

The game wouldn't work with Multiplayer.

soooo....no?

So, the series has no multiplayer.
*but there are no other games like either of them (1,2,3, and NV)

Fallout is about desolate isolation; its just not a buddy game, and running around the wasteland with buddies isn't really conducive to a sense of dread and loss at all that was destroyed, and that feeling of being alone.

*And besides.. no one wants this... :)

LOL just...No. Plus the game lags up enough as it is. You would really want the technical problems Vegas has to be worse?

alone, except for the fact that you DO have buddies, or companions in the game. Hey, I'm just saying it would be cool, dudes. I'm not saying its required and they have to do it, I'm just saying in a make-believe world, if they did do it, that's what it could be like. You don't have to go deep into the story or anything.

So much negativity here! There is actually an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) for Fallout in the works as we speak. It would actually work as a great game. Everybody wants multiplayer these days. I cant even begin to imagine how much money a game like that would make. I would give anything to be a game developer. Please do not compare Fallout to Red dead again either or I might choke myself.

What I wouldn't mind though is some type of character sharing over Live. Either you can download peoples characters, or just view them and their stats, weapons, etc.
