Wait.... No-Bark is?

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 2:26 pm

Soooo. In fallout New Vegas there's this crazy old guy named No-Bark Noonan in a place called NoVac. He is pretty much completely insane. Some people have inquired as to who this guy might be or what his story is. After a little bit of thought, I came to a conclusion. No-Bark is:

Spoiler
The Chosen One from Fallout 2. Not only is "That Gun" present in the Mojave, (A gun used by both The Vault Dweller and The Chosen One) but just South of Novac, you can find a broken down "Highwayman". Not only this, but No-Bark makes mention of learning a spell that makes people's true forms show, which he learned from a Caverat. HELL! He even mention Wanamingos, from Fallout 2 when asked about The Guy in the Checkered Suit. Is it possible that, after starting his own town, The Chosen One heard of New Vegas, had some bad luck, and ended up as this crazy old coot? 40 years later (2241 - 2281) and this is what the Chosen One has become? It seems plausible to me.

If I remember correctly the Canon ending had him stay at Arroyo and help make it a gigantic city, And he died in peace.

This is true, however, we don't know what year he dies in, and this could be just something that occurs prior to his return to Arroyo and subsequent death. Otherwise, some descendant or Tribesman left with that Highwayman and "That Gun" or otherwise had those items traded away. This doesn't really explain how No-Bark knows of Wanamingos or knows about that spell unless there are more than one cave rat that speaks and can teach that spell.

Wanamingos weren't secret creatures. He's an old man so it stands to reason he's old enough to remember them before they all died out. That Gun! wasn't a unique weapon in fallout 2 so its appearance in Novac is meaningless, especially as the shop keeper if from Klamath. He wasn't present but he some how knows what the ghouls at REPCONN were up to. This alone proves he gets to know things he wasn't around to learn.

Haha, I like your conclusion. Although I don't believe it's actually him, due to him being so easy to kill, this did give me the giggles. Thanks.

That gun is just a funny joke, Because its not canon that he 'Had' that particular gun, And it was'nt unique in FO2, Plus if you did'nt notice, There are over 100 Highwaymens in the wasteland.

EDIT: Also what "Cave rat" that teaches a spell?

Wtf?

I think he is Sara from Prison Break.

If he was Chosen One, he'd kill you just by looking at you. Remember those good old F2 power characters we were making? ;-)

He's not THAT insane. What he says is mostly true, in a twisted sort of way.

There's also speculation that he's the Vault 11 survivor.

Simple way to test this. Shoot No-Bark in the face.

If he doesn't immediately slaughter you, he's not the chosen one.

No-Bark isn't insane! After all, doesn't everyone talk to toy bears?

When you listen to his conversation on the radio you think he's nuts then you find out later he is right on and no one would believe him.

That guy may speak veiled truth, but he's as nutty as squirrel poop. I kinda figure that being stung repeatedly in the head by radscorpions would make anyone, even the Chosen One, lose their bearings at least for a while.
