We left off with backstabs I believe. I for one don't think they will be one hit kills, simply because the skill does extra damage. Also, all skills have a trade-off. Does it lessen the damage of frontal attacks? Is it limited to the knife? It will be balanced some way. Only time will tell how.

However it works, I just hope that the knifer doesn't lunge an impossible distance. For a backstab to work you should have to be right behind the guy; close enough to reach out and poke him between the shoulder blades, which is actually what you'll be doing, only with a knife.

I'd rather it was the same as a regular melee, just extra damage. Watch online play of Transformers WFC and you will see a Back Attack bonus to anyone using the skill. It deals extra damage and xp, but is not a kill every time. That's what I want in Brink.

That brings up the question of how long the melee range is in Brink. I still have some videos I need to watch, but I don't remember seeing any meleeing going on. In any case, I agree with your idea. A damage boost, even a big damage boost, is good, but insta-kills seem kind of broken. People would be going for backstabs too often, probably.

All skills do not need to have a trade off, only some have them.

Ex. The ability to cook grenades seems to have to trade off, nor does the ability to shoot nades in midair.

Sorry, I misunderstood what I heard in an interview.
As for a backstab, I don't think it will be an overpowered assassination.

In my behind the backstab should be a OHK. Melee only. Obviously from behind. I am sure it will be balanced.
