Thoughts on gender issue.

Okay I’ll start by saying am new to the forums and searched topics on this subject. They seem to get locked due to flamers, so there is no where to voice my thoughts on this. Other than starting a new one.

I just want to say am a huge fan of Bethesda games and when I found out about Brink I started to some research. Having found out about the fact that Bethesda decided to go with more cloths, customization etc over gender choice, kind of annoyed me. We’ve all come to expect gender choice to be core in most modern day gaming. Then I heard maybe (rumoured) that they might add them later. This is an even bigger mistake.

Why it’s a worse idea to add females later rather than not at all? Because;
- Those that wanted this from the start but just choose a different gender and class. From my understanding (maybe I need to research the game a bit more but I think) would have to create a new profile or character and lose the data on their old characters.
- Players who stubbornly held off from buying it till now, play but their favourite gender choice now has noob stigma attached to it, as everyone would know females started later in the game therefore those players are less experienced and a easy target for harassment.

Reasons for wanting a choice.
As much as a lot of male players don’t like to admit its not only a male pass time anymore. Therefore girls would like to play as girls.

Even if that wasn’t true more and more players like to play both genders rather than just their own. You can be prejudges all you want for all I care and call them pervs etc. But if it adds to the enjoyment of the game it should never be over looked.

If am missing something don’t be afraid to correct me am new to researching this game myself. But please don’t flame. I’d like this topic to stay open other wise someone down the line will come make another wanting to vent the same issues.

This topic comes up regularly and gets closed regularly as members can't stay away from making disrespectful remarks about female gamers so I am closing this before it goes down that road and we have to start warning people.

The decision on this has already been made and is explained here in http://brink.chefenco.com/splash-damage-explains-the-lack-of-female-characters/
