Just installed this tonight, but I'm having a pretty serious issue. It pretty much makes playing the game unbearable.

The main menu music and ambient music while playing the game are completely garbled.

The sound made is akin to what I imagine a mouse-size harley would make. A kind of burping/idling noise.

I am using onboard sound (Realtek HD). I followed the FAQ and made sure all audio files were associated w/Windows Media Player. I un-installed and re-installed the game.

I even tried turning down all of the sliders in the audio options, to no avail, the only one that will affect it is the master volume.

At this point, I can either play with no sound, or this headache-causing noise (which is at a fairly high volume).

This is a dealbreaker for me, and I'm truly wishing that I could go back in time and buy this for the XBOX instead.

As of right now, this game is unplayable.

I don't see anyone else describing this same issue, please help.

You might try changing your settings via your Realtek device first. It's onboard so that would be right from the control panel. Also have you updated drivers for your sound card?

If none of those things work, you may try using the http://www.free-codecs.com/download/k_lite_codec_pack.htm as that will remove any inferior codecs you may have and it also help video as well as audio issues. Probably the standard version would be enough to get what you need.

- Running latest drivers.
- My codecs are in good shape. I have even gone so far as to 'comment out' falloutnv.exe from both the ffdshow audio and video codecs.
- tried both the original installed version and patched versions of the game.

I am seeing another post this morning with what sounds like the same issue. This is obviously game related. Perhaps with my specific hardware (realtek HD).
