I'm in a classic little Fallout predicament. I've happened on a little town called Bonnie Springs. I was chased here, I didn't come here by choice. A few moments before I happened across a nest of Cazadores, which as a Barter/Speech/Medicine character at level 10, with Leather Armour and a 9mm, aren't easy, so I ran.

Anyway, I saw Bonnie Springs, and ran towards it. Safe. Not. Several human baddies - I didn't catch they're group name - started at me from inside, so I made a left away from the Cazadores and Baddies, and right into the stinger of a Giant Radscorpion. Bad. I ducked backwards through the Baddies (who were now fighting the Cazadore,) and made my way into a narrow gap between two destroyed buildings, knowing the Radscorpion wouldn't fit and would probably turn away.

Heres the part that fits in the "you won't believe this" category, so i'm taking a picture to post in case anyone doubts me :) . A Deathclaw :swear: ran into town from who knows where and killed the Baddies who had finally taken down the Cazadore, I lost track of the Radscorpion, but am now in the narrow crack of the building staring at a Deathclaw with a 9mm.

Thankfully I have previous saves as always, but I think it'll be more fun to figure a way out of the situation. :ahhh:

Classic. Wait it out. Might get tired, and walk away. Something else might happen along that can knock some more life off it, thereby enabling you and your 9 to kill it. Perhaps next time a larger weapon on your desert jaunt? :toughninja:

Is it dark in there?

(What happens if you try to crouch and sneak past him?)

If you read it differently it actually seems like the Deathclaw is packing the 9mm.

Just popping this over here so we don't inadvertently spoil the surprise for anyone :)

(Plus, I think flinging deathclaws at your foes might take off as a serious gaming strategy :D)

Well. The situation is purty much the same. I now have metal armor I was able to get off one of the baddies who died close to the alley. I also have a Tire Iron (prolly won't use that during this particular situation, I guess we'll see.) I also have some empty Sarsaparilla bottles. I'll throw them at him.

If you see the picture I linked, the baddies/scorpions/ect (who, by quick inspection, are all dead) took a lil over half the Deathclaws health away. My health is so low, you can only see 1 bar left. All my limbs are crippled.

I guess I could just sit here forever. Nevermind. I'm playing the new hardcoe mode. I'll starve to death, or dehydrate. What a shame.

As it is, i'd have a hard time running as fast as I could back home with two good legs, cause' Deathclaws move fast. I don't have to worry about that outcome though, because I don't have any legs at all. Deathclaw ate them.

I think imageshack clipped your picture, s'only the bottom left of the screen, can't make much out. Or did you just mean to capture the HP bars to compare you and death? I reckon you can take it. It's on its last legs! One on one! Close your eyes, start swinging the tire iron and head right for it. Yaaaaaaaaaa! :toughninja:

I'd recommend a decent rock track to get your blood pumping too, but its hard to come by decent rock in a retro 50s post-nuclear wasteland. :(

I prefer silence in this one case, I have a feeling Deathclaws listen for that kinda stuff while they're forcing me to cower in fear, down an alley, under a rusted out A/C machine.
I escaped anyway!
I did end up waiting (the long way) till night, to see what would happen, rather than blasting it up with my 9mm.

This town (Bonnie Springs) is a single road with old Wild West buildings on either side. After dark, the Deathclaw started doing big loops around the half of the town I was hiding in. When it reached the outside loop, I sneaked over to the other side of town, and hid there while the Deathclaw did its loop. Once it was on the outside of the loop again, I made for the hills as quick as I could. I didn't meet anything else, my head was fuzzy the whole time, but I ended up overlooking a camp with some Raider-esque looking people. I thought "crap. here we go again." As I moved closer, they ended up being the Great Khan's, (who according to the loading screen tips were supposed to be violent and aggressive and such.) Well, long story short, they were not violent, and i'm in they're dining room talking to the Chief right now.

I can mark this as a successful Fallout New Vegas adventure, I didn't find any ingredients like I set out too, but I discovered three new locations, two new tribes, and a new creature. I also discovered what it feels like to be next to dead, near dehydrated, near starved, without shelter, in the wasteland, at night, being stalked by a Dealthclaw.

I'm going to like this game as much as Fallout 3. B)
