It's not the children.
- We're told that there's *one* person you cannot kill. There are many children.
- We're told that there's one *person* you cannot kill. The childen aren't people, they are figments of your imagination. They do not actually exist in the game world, hence, why they are indestructible and why nobody ever talks to or about them.
(alternative explanation:
- We're *told" that there's one person you cannot kill. In order for the developers to tell us a thing, they had to know it. A software bug is defined as a situation where the input and the results do not match: what you expect to happen does not happen, rather, something else happens. Shooting a child in the head should kill them, both logically and by the rules of the game. But it doesn't. This is a bug. And since Obsidian is fine upstanding people with professional ethics and pride in their work, they wouldn't knowingly leave this bug unfixed, therefore they don't know about it and consequently this couldn't be what they were referencing.)
