Best way to heal HP in hard core?

Post » Thu Feb 17, 2011 9:22 pm

I just wondering how you guys heal your HP in hardcoe? Do you use items every time? Do you go to doctor and spend 50 caps?

I was also wondering if any of you drink from the sink at 2HP a sip to heal yourself fully? IS this a good or bad idea? Other then wasting time sipping 50 times, you don't waste any food or get and radiation.

Is the lead belly perk in New Vegas ? I remember using that one alot in FO3 so I could drink water instead of wasting stim packs. Grimy toilets became a sight for sore eyes :P

Also just in case your not aware you can hold the use button to drink.

I usually have enough healing items so if its emergency i use 3-4 at once .. like stimpack+water+food+sarsaparilla+nuka cola maybe and it goes all the way up for like 3-4 seconds. Its almost instant :)

What ever fits the situation best. If you have lot of limb damage, doctor might be good idea. If you have clean watersource by, like those at Goodsprings, use it. Cost nothing and have no bad effects. However drinking heavily irradiated water to heal is not good idea. You need lot of water to heal compared to say food which would result in lot of radiation.

I use food, sunset sarsaparilla and stimpacks to heal.

for hardcoe mode i only drink water from taps and such to prevent thirst (useful early game to preserve purified water).
However later on i find it easier to glug my own water and avoid the rad hits (being able to mass produce purified water is handy but time consuming).

What i do is this>

Look about randomly talk to some folks, if i get bored go out exploring or hunting enemies. (then check the campfires and construction benches for the recipies to make stuff)
do this a few times, might try out a quest or two.
then after i look at my stockpile of collected stuff, make the repair kits, doctors bags and cook a few meats for about 10-20 mins then repeat.

If i hit a bad situation i find using multiple stimpacks (like 5-10) after taking lots of hits makes me almost god-like for a short while, the only real problems are keeping my dumb companions alive and avoiding shooting them..

I tend to use the high hp / second stuff. Brahmin / Bighorner Steaks are a prime example (+1 STR from Brahmin too). I haven't played hardcoe, and on EASYcore, I don't even bother with food / water. The build I use, I tend to kill things before they get into mid-range; for the others, I use stimpacks that I've hot-keyed to right. If I'm paying attention even moderately, I can't die; on the bad part of it, even that didn't save me from boomer's howitzers, lol.

I always eat food,or drink anything that heals me before i use my stimpaks.

Thing is i have over 60 stimpaks as i have found it very easy to build up a nice wealth of caps. Not to mention i steal every single stimpak i find. even from the great man Doc Mitchell himself.

I save Stimpacks for my companions, as they tend to be in relatively short supply. I keep around Lakelurk Meat, Brahmin Steaks, Gecko Steaks, Wasteland Omelettes, Purified Water, and Sunset Sarsaparillas for healing. I tend to leave Super Stimpacks hotkeyed for use in the thick of a fight (as it sometimes seems immersion-breaking to pause in the middle of getting shot to eat a couple steaks).

In fallout: NV the areas are literally swarming with food, so you never seem to run short, I just eat a load of food and drink spare water and it does the job, so you can save stimpacks/super stimpacks for a more dire situation where scoffing your face isnt a luxury a you can afford to do :)

Sunset Sarsaparilla. Water, water everywhere, so you won't die of thirst.
