When does the world start to change?

Post » Wed Mar 02, 2011 5:42 am

I don't tend to backtrack too much - I tend to play carefully and thoroughly.

I heard that at some point the game changes with Veteran Rangers appearing, and groups of Legion/NCR fighting and so forth.

What point in the game causes this to happen?

Thanks.

You have to be fairly far along in the main quest. Just keep doing the quests for your path until you start hearing people talking about elite NCR soldiers coming in from the west.

This happens after you've been to see the Legion mostly. Or if you skip that visit, initiating the Ncr main quest. I was curious about this myself and took note that npc's only spoke about them after I'd seen Caesar. A quick way to check if your game has reached this stage is if there are any guards outside of Hsu's room in McCarran.

 don't expect much to change, i was waiting for things to change like in FO3 when the enclave show up and set up outposts, have shock troops patrolling, landing in verti birds etc, nothing like that happens in new vegas, the only thing that i ever noticed in almost 2 months of playing is there are a few legion attacks here and there, but its pretty minimal, just near the river, and also some ncr troopers appear in heavy armor and rangers also appear, but they only appear in a few spots, they don't patrol the map and you're not gonna run into many of em anywhere, sorry to dissapoint you but the only real epic moment is at the end of the game when the legion attack the dam, before that the game is gonna play just how it is now for you, you don't have to worry about running into a random patrol or them showing up too unexpectedly very often if at all. :fallout:

I think it starts changing around the time you go to Fortification Hill and upgrade or destroy the Securitrons OR upon completing For the Republic, part I. That's when you suddenly see Veteran Rangers at Camp Golf, Heavy Troopers at Forlorn Hope, etc.

to the OP, don't expect anything big to change, other than ncr heavy troppers and rangers showing up at the ncr outposts, not much else happens, ceasers legion attack a few of the ncr outposts if you go there, but thats all that happens, don't expect any large incursion of ceasers legion or battles going on anywhere, no patrols, events or anything dramatic happens until the very end of the game at the dam battle. :obliviongate:

@ westoftherockies Maybe a little too much info there, he probably hasn't even finished the game yet. The topic was "when" , not what does exactly happens after this point.

The fact that nothing happens is telling to much. Why spoil the game for others.

I realize this.

What is the point in giving information that a person did not even ask for?
