Fallout: Bugs Galore

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:18 am

What on earth is with New Vegas? I've seen so many bugs, WAY more than I saw them in F3, Radscorpions, Radroaches, Cazadores, Ants, Fire Ants. I'm going to need to find a pre-war pesticide plant. :bonk:

(Haha! Bet you thought this was gonna be about glitches  )

Yeah, I've noticed this too. Looking for a good sized can of Raid myself.

I hate those bugs, especially those radscorpions with their high damage threshold.

I found that bug squashing challenge perk easy to get because bugs are EVERYWHERE on the Southern half of the map :cryvaultboy:

@Povuholo- For me it's Cazadores.

*Sings Jingle Jangle Jingle while casually strolling along the old highway*

*Hears the flutter of 3-5 Cazadores* "OH GOD IT'S BEHIND ME! OH GOD OH GOD OH GOD"

And then it kills me.

Poison actually does something now I was amazed when me and Boone cleared vault 3 only to be killed by some wasps.

Interestingly enough arthropods cant achieve the size they have obtained in the fallout universe. An insects size is proportional to the amount of oxygen in the air. With probably half of the worlds oxygen producing plants either destroyed or dying. I would actually predict all non aquatic exoskeleton organisms shrinking in size, regardless of FEV or radiation mutations.

I have noticed the higher numbers of bugs in the game like the addition of cazadooms that exceed rad scorpions in terms of annoyance. But at least the entomology perk helps in the damage department.

Also just curious is the sub title a reference to Korn perhaps?

Yes, and gravity has nothing to do with it...

Giant Radscorpions are the devil. You can run into them between Goodsprings and Primm, and when you're just starting out you figure, "oh, everything levels with me, right?" And then you unload all your ammo into it while running backwards and it kills you the first time it's tail hits you.

So then you realize, oh, Obsidian makes more realistic games, and sneak around them until level 10, and decide "time to take on those giant rad scorpions." Only, once again, Obsidian makes realistic games, and your 9mm and Varmit Rifle are just as useless as they were before. So now you go down in a few hits instead of one.

Cazadores=newest annoyance in the Fallout universe. Nothing like walking into a random nest of around 5 of them to be killed oh so quickly...damn poison...

With the arthropods exoskeletons obviously mutating into something harder, I would say No, Gravity doesn't effect insect size as much as the current oxygen level. Gravity would of been the first obstacle to overcome with their new size. The FEV and radiation obviously made their exoskeleton harder, negating a lot of the gravitational limitations. Still no explanation for the oxygen though.

You cheeky bastard. :P

On topic, I actually faced my first swarm of cazadores yesterday. They float like a bloatfly and sting like a deathclaw. I was lucky to have survived.

And I also saw something funny in the distance some time ago as well. It was a raider running away from a giant ant that was running away from a giant radscorpion that was clipped half above the ground and half below it. It looked like something out of Benny Hill. :ahhh:
