Wild Winderness what to expect

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 2:05 am

Ok so i have played with the beginning perks and for the last 2 characters i have selected wild wasteland i think that is what it is called, but in turth i have not seen anything really different from the previous 3 plays where i picked a diferent perk. This is my second time through the game with this wild wasteland perk selected but i am not sure exactly what it does or what effect it should have on game play. I have been in the field and the weird music will proc when the trait is supposed to activate, granted there was jerks to shoot but they seemed like the normal emenies i have dealt with before. So what stuff should i look for and where should i look for it any ideas would be appreciated.

What to expect? A slight sense of disappointment. There's a couple of unique weapons, one of which isn't as good as the one it replaces, a unique hat but mostly it's about cultural references and jokes.

Yeah it mostly just adds a bunch of references to pop-culture.

This.
Some of them are pretty funny, but...eh. The only reason to take it is 'just to see', once, and if you for some reason highly prefer those WW weapons over the ones they replace.

Thanks guys i have not seen anything really different in 2 runs with this perk selected, i was expecting more adversaries, more random encounters, maybe even some different dialog options (not that i know every one) but the dialog options still all seem to fit in the story as nothing seems to come at me from left feild as i would have expected. Oh well nice idea maybe next time we can get a bit more weirdness that is obvious, like flying pigs attacking the player or something.

If you see a vault boy with a similiar expression to my avatar pop up on your screen saying "...", then you've witnessed a wild wasteland occurance.

It's basically a "yes i want the whacky easter eggs" perk. The developers were divided on the issue of seriousness (or the lack thereof) so they decided o split all this stuff off into a perk.

I am not really complaining except that i think i am missing out on the joke. I have had the woo woo music and stuff would spawn but what did was not out of the ordinary. I am wondering if the trigger is locations or timing. As soon as i figure out which i will spend the extra time to try and trigger these events. I was hoping for weird stuff like space ships locked in a dog fight as they come blasting by the player and crash at which point the player has to scavange the wreckage and deal with any survivors kind of thing, you know bizzare stuff. I have had a couple of cazadors spawn, some feral ghouls but nothing bizzare i guess is my point. So there is nothing bizzare or a few extra enemies spawning is considered bizzare? I just want to be sure i am not missing the joke, maybe the joke is not a very good one, or my sense of humor is not tickled? Not a complaint just more an observation i guess and i was wondering if anyone has any pointers to locations where weird stuff has occured for them so i could look for it.

thanks

What to expect. Complete waste of a trait. What was fun in FO2 just isnt fun here.
Then what is fun or not is personal.
Could be that I am out of the pop-culture loop these days.

i take wild wasteland all the time and i think i've seen maybe four or five events total. i'll get the music and the icon in the upper left, but i can't find what i'm supposed to be looking at. my only complaint is it should be a little more forceful in getting you to see what the encounter is (at least shift the camera to the direction i should be looking). the encounters are extremely easy to miss.
