Well I reckon Elijah is more lucky than smart having found and been physically able to get to Sierra Madre to even know the potential of the old world tech located there. I mean who knows if Mr.House is even aware of it's existence and even if he were would his machines have the range and complexity to locate and take advantage of the Sierra Madre ? I guess he could of done what Elijah did.

But then again there could be the speculation that RobCo should have had knowledge of the best in old world tech and possibly have matched or even had superior tech. Maybe Poseidon energy had access to tech as advanced as the Sierra Madre ? Helios seems to be similarly advanced as the hologram tech.

While Hologram tech has some amazing benefits, once you know what you look for (The Achilles Heel if you will) the hologram army is in some serious need of physical back-up. EMP grenades and explosives anyone? Those emitteres are fragile. Hell, one computer in the casino said that you couldn't step on one without out it breaking or worse. A shock-wave is definitely going to do some damage if it's in or on the ground. A mobile heavy carrier unit? If you can't shoot the ghosts, then shoot the big thing in the back, problem solved.

The holoprojectors have an uncanny ability to project through walls so finding them could be a problem, and holograms are explicitly said to be immune to EMP, then of course you still need to find them while the hordes of holograms rip you to shreds.

I remember the I mean the emitters. The emitters can't take a dent. If you bury them in the ground then even a rocker will send out a big enough shock-wave the damage the emitter(s). Large area? Shell it.

He merely stumbled across some pre-war tech. That's closer to a prospector than a genius imo.

Shelling was never effective against infantry it was an anti-fortification, you'd need to have a relatively good idea where the emitter is buried otherwise you could shell for hours and never find it. The ground shockwaves aren't as powerful as you think. And not only must you deal with the holographic army but the red cloud which would proceed it and start devouring your flesh, Elijah wasn't just after the holograms as weapons but duplicating the cloud its self.

Missiles. And the range of the emitters IIRC is fairly limited. And to have an effective holographic army you have to have some way of moving the emitters as well.

The missiles don't have much of a blast radius so there explosive shockwave power won't be that much, you could fire a dozen missiles and never hit the hidden emitter, especially if you don't know what your looking for. And the emitters could be moved like any piece of equipment they aren't that big. Rather then continue to argue with you I'll just bring up the absolute in-game proof of what Elijah is capable of from the secret ending.(where you join forces with him)

Absolute proof of the effectiveness of a holographic army.

I just realized I overlooked a crucial part of my argument. I KNOW what the holograms are, the rest of the world doesn't. I yield in defeat.

I wonder what would happen if Elijah attacked Hoover Dam with just one hologram. If somebody made a mod or fiddled with PC commands, I'd love to see a hologram fight off the NCR.
