Question: What do you always hear in the desert but never see?

My second question would give away the first so I will wait to see if anybody else didn't see it too.

I guess this is along the same lines and always hearing bats in the caves in New Vegas but never seeing them. They sound remarkably like the ones I can hear in Daggerfall.

It could be snakes your referring to but I always assume they are hidden nightails.

I hear alot of gunfire but never really see any signs of a fight anywhere, thats all I can think of.

What gets wet as It drys your hands....

its the enviroment, rocks shaking loose, small avalanches, the wind, gunfire in the distance, possibly rattlesnakes (not sure if there extinct or not, if they are they are probably night stalkers)

your eyes and ears are fine, dont worry.

The wind/air?

Not really in the desert but you hear roulette balls spinning when you're standing close to the playing tables at the left side of the Lucky 38 casino floor. Obviously there's nobody there but the devs could've had the Lucky 38 being open to the public in a beta phase, and forgot to take the sound out.

In the desert you often hear explosions that you can't find afterwards.

The cat?

The dog?

Any small, furry creature. Nightstalkers are useless.

Sometimes I hear this really creepy and deep laugh.....no lie

Ah, yes. Ambient sounds that lack a source. A common element for most games now.

I hear laughter and pvssyr inside the Gomorrah...despite the fact I've brutally murdered everybody inside and ate all their corpses, stacked their corpses in a neat pile and enjoy making corpses dance.

If you're near the wrecked power line pylons you'll often hear them creaking and groaning.

Most of you seem to know what I mean. I just hate it cause it makes me look around and around, afraid of getting ambushed again, wasted time looking for nothing, no red no blue. :banghead:

I used to live near the Mohave and have gone hunting there several times. What did we hunt in the desert? Sidewinders.(Rattle Snakes)

Reminds me of the time we were out at Stumps (29 Palms) on a CAX (combined arms exercise). My platoon was humpin' through the desert to get to more desert and one of the guys in front of me stepped on a small rattler (about 3'). It was stunned a bit and one of the guys quickly grabbed it up and stuffed it into a metal mortar ammo can. After that day's mortar shoot, we took all the unused mortar increments (the little bags of propellant that you take off a mortar round to change it's flight distance), filled up the ammo can and then lit them up. FIRE IN THE HOLE! That snake blew about 50' up into the air. Fricasseed rattlesnake. Goes good with a nice cucumber dipping sauce I hear.........

I hear the Combat Shotgun firing when I'm near the Gun Runners.

Hey gunny howd' you know I stepped on a small one? I must have jumped three feet in the air. but I put one in the top of his head before i touched the ground. I got teased and raged about being jumpy to no end, and never a word about the impossible shot I made. Ah friends ......won't give ya credit, till they need it.

I fast travel from Freeside to McCarran, i realized Arcade is not with me.

Suddenly i heard plasma gun sound, but did not saw Arcade at all within my sniper scope range.

Few seconds later my camera view switch to a scene where Arcade killed a thug in Fresside!

Little sidewinders are actually the worst their venom is the same as an advlt but the teeth are smaller which can make it impossible to extract with suction. You have to bleed it, put on a tourniquet. If you don't get the anti-venom within 40-60 min.........
