Lily's Medicine

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 3:00 am

I have had Lily as a companion on different playthroughs, but this is something I still can't figure out. How often should Lily take her medicine? I don't mean for efficiency in combat, but for her own good. These are the different ending slides, depending on her medication intake:

She takes her medicine every day:
Encouraged by The Courier to take her medication regularly, Lily's mind eventually attained a semblance of clarity. Her memories dulled by the pills, she cast aside the recording of her grandchildren, no longer remembering its significance.

She takes her medicine at half doses:
Lily continued to take her medicine at half-doses, and although she remembered her grandchildren, her mind remained muddled and confused. Eventually, she parted ways with The Courier and traveled west, seeking the remnants of her past.

She stops taking her medicine:
Encouraged by The Courier to stop taking her medication altogether, Lily's instabilities grew worse with each passing day. Eventually she became little more than a ravening beast, the kindly old grandmother subsumed beneath the rage.

I can't figure out what's better for her, making her take her medicine every day, or allowing her to take it at half doses. She values the memory of her grandchildren, but she'll forget them by taking her meds regularly, while she travels back to find remnants of her past that are probably long gone if she keeps taking it at half-doses.

What do you think?

I ended up suggesting she kept taking half the dose of the medicine.
It was her idea in the first place and she obviously misses her grandchildren
and I wouldn't want she forgets (in one case or the worst) about them.

I haven't been able to get Lily to take her medicine (on her own) even after leaving my computer AFK for a few hours with Lily as my companion, so I just gave up on this. Talk about stupid. Why does it need to be randomly triggered?

OH HELL! I told her to take full dose - now I'm sad - she'll forget her grandchildren. Wish I'd known :( If I play it again I'm gonna say half dose.

I think it's a toss-up between half-doses and full-doses... sanity at the cost of cherished memories, versus instability but the memories remain. It's a judgment call, kind of like House vs. NCR.

I had her take half doses. Maybe on the next go-round I'll have her take full ones. I didn't want her to forget her past.
