Lottery Ticket, Train Tunnel Entrance...

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 1:15 am

I was exploring today and found a train tunnel with a boarded entrance to the west of Nipton. And in front of that entrance was one of the lottery tickets used in the "lottery" held by the Legion. Why would there be a lottery ticket that far? Why is there a train tunnel there in the first place? I assume it to lead to a possible DLC location. Has anyone else seen the same thing?

A train tunnel?! In the Mojave?! Good Lord!

Someone tried to escape, got shot, dropped their ticket. Or they ran away. Or, they went into the train tunnel, and boarded it up from the inside somehow. The wind blew it up there. If this mystery isn't solved, I won't be able to fall asleep tonight.

Also, whats with the amount of people assuming that blocked places on the edge of the map are all related to DLC's. There's a ton of boarded up houses across the map that noone seems to be mentioning. And look at Dead Money. The BoS bunker wasn't on the edge, or blocked (before a patch)

If you can recall, two of F3's DLCs were accessed via train tunnels on the map's edge: the Pitt to the North, and Broken Steel to the Southwest. That's why I brought it up. The lottery ticket being there just had me curious as to its' placement.

that's just a plot device so you don't follow Benny down the stairs when he (spoiler) runs away(spoiler).

Possible DLC exit point: the Western pass (with Courier graffiti), the Northern Pass (up past the farms), and there is a North-East train tunnel past the Boomers Place, and obviously the South-West road past the Unification Statue/Caravan outpost. Not one in the very south, or the East, so that could give you an indication that you won't be entering Caesar's land for a DLC.

Maybe, maybe not.. I've never gotten past the door but some have, there is actually 'stuff' past the door, not much stuff, but stuff none-the-less..

I kinda like the idea of areas below the strip.. Kinda fits in with conspiracy theories about why 'Not at home' filled vault 21 will concrete.

Afterall, he 'did' consider Benny to be his protégé before the betrayal...

there IS no spoon... erm.. key though?

I said that in a previous thread, and you can see from Mr House's basemant/bed area, that under Vegas is a big industrial complex. Vault 21 must be part of that. The rest of Vegas (Westside etc) is a big complex of sewers and tunnels, so under the Strip would be no different.

People with PC's don't need such things as keys apparently.... There's a corridor and doors beyond that elevator..
As for under L38.. Vault 21 is one of the furthest buildings away on the strip, much Further than Benny's elevator. Seeing as the strip was spared the big bombs, it would make sense that the sewer system under it would be fully instact.. I'm telling you, 'Not at home' is hiding something....

if you go into Westside (after House dies) the people there say "I wonder if we can move into the sewers under the strip now House is gone". So there is a complex under there alright. Whether we will ever see it.. doubtful.

There's more than one train tunnel in the game. The one you're talking about is nowhere near Nipton.

There are a couple of unusable tunnel entrances - one is not that far from Nipton, actually.
Then there's the unmarked, full tunnel that runs between Nellis and a location close to Raul's Shack (it's an alternative way to reach Nellis if you want to avoid the bombardment - however, it's full of ghouls and traps).

the north east train tunnel is to go into an area in the game without getting blown up much.... and it can be lockpicked or so I have read.... the other train tunnel in the west in area 4 of the map is a possible DLC exit point as i have read there might be a total of 7 DLC's for Fallout: New Vegas
P.S. not sure if any of that was a spoiler so I am sorry in advanced if it was....
