I chose the Sequoia only because i think it looks better strapped to my character Allison's hip. Actually now that i think about it Allison's hip is so hot anyway that i could strap anything to it and it would look hot. I could strap a strap to her hip and it would still look hot.

Oh never mind me undersixed and over paid, sounds like i need another trip to my own little corner of Vegas. :)

Power and looks wise sequoia, economic general purpose marie. Note that Marie doesnt quite cut it anymore against high dt mobs on higher difficulties.

The polar opposite ends of the spectrum. There's almost no basis for comparison.

Neither.

Hunting Revolver. Scope > Iron Sights

And a Brush Gun for that classic cowboy "Rifle and Pistol using same ammo" effect. :D

I dont like the Sequoia, it looks cool, but I had a bug with it. After I did the quest, I picked it up off the ground, the game then strips it out of my inventory, and puts it back on the ground, and any time I pick it up and drop it and pick it up again, it gave me negative karma, is this a script bug?

Ranger Sequoia. While in my personal opinion Maria looks the coolest, the Ranger Sequoia is the most effective, although .45-70 is very scarce, so you may need to pull out Maria sometimes.... why not carry both? But, Lucky is still my favorite pistol-type weapon.

the one you can get from Hanlon after a spoiler moment happens? i never had it disappear from my inventory or anything, but i do lose karma if i drop it and pick it back up

Not sure how I got it, but I like the Mysterious Magnum.... because it has a nice kick and .44 ammo is not so hard to get.

ummm...Giant hand cannon vs popgun?

Well, doesn't matter anyway. Maria just plain svcks when compared to a 10mm pistol using JHP hand loads.

Sequoia. Ranger's use 'em, its a revolver, and IMPO the name is cooler than Maria. I like both, but when forced to choose, Sequoia FTW.

First of all. It was created for Rangers who had committed honorable acts of service against all tyranny, not House's errand boys. With that out of the way, I'm going Ranger Sequoya all the way. I generally just make my own SWC ammunition. I probably ran with it most of my later game, only switching to the Brush rifle to take out mobs at longer range or higher level creatures quickly (deathclaws and what not).

Ranger Sequoia by far.

Maria is a fine gun but by the time you get yourself all the way to the strip you're liable to be of a level where enemies no longer drop 9mm ammo commonly (your powder-ganger slaying days are long over by the time you're that far) and Maria and her anemic 9mm para ammo just isn't enough to punch through the armor of what's heading your way any more.

Basically, here's how I see the pros and cons:

Maria:

Pro: Common ammo type. Large box magazine, high ammo capacity. Faster rate of fire.
Cons: Low damage/shot ratio, ammo becomes more rare as the game progresses.

Ranger Sequoia:

Pro: High damage/shot. Very accurate.
Cons: Expensive/somewhat rare ammunition. Slow reload time. small ammo capacity.

What seals it for me is the fact eventually Maria just can't punch through armor. She's a fine plinking gun if you're running around farming powder gangers or bark scorpions or gecko skins, but to take on anything remotely challenging you need to reach for something a bit beefier than 9mm.

Now if they had a unique 10 or 12.7mm that you could aquire in-game... I'd go for that over the slow-firing, slow-loading revolver.
