Building A Diplogambler

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:04 pm

I would like to build a very charismatic gambler type. I'm not sure how to go about it.

Luck seems very important, for the gambling
Charisma seems key
Intelligence is always nice
Perception is good
Endurance is less useful
Strength needs no particular emphasis
Agility seems awfully useful

Tags are also a trouble
Speech is mandatory
Sneak would be neat
Lockpickin' is needed
Guns are fun
Unarmed would be good if I decide to rob a casino
Melee could be an alternative

I'm pretty indecisive...

I'd put Luck to about Lucky 7, and whenever you gamble, buy the Luck implant, wear the Lucky Shades and wear Naughty Nightwear. An easy way to get the Shades is to sneak attack NCR(if you don't want to get on bad terms with them) and sell their dog tags to Aurelius for fame. Do a few other legion quests too just enough to get to "Liked", and then once you have your key to the Safehouse, you can backstab them or whatever.

I would probably place strength and endurance low, while keeping perception,intelligence at a fair amount and then perhaps put the rest in agility. The perception would help you with your sneaking and lockpicking.

I really hate The Legion, I will not work with them no matter what. I would also like a suggestion for clothing. 'Cause the texture glitch kills the Grimy Pre-War idea. It was my very favorite gear... :(

As for clothing, Naughty Nightwear would be your best bet. Btw, what is the "texture glitch' for the grimy pre war idea?

I know The Legion isn't everybody's favorite group of buddies, but getting Lucky Shades is a pretty sweet deal.

If you're going for a gambler, you'll want to go with a suave, smooth talking six god of a man. However, alot of your SPECIAL won't reflect your TAG skills, so you will have a harder time playing the game, but it's funner since your guy has a background.

You'll want::

7-8 Charisma :: Gamblers tend to be smooth talkers, commonly hitting on women who find them intoxicating due to having money
8-9 Perception :: If your the best of the best, you can count cards. Perception is key to this, same as keeping an eye on how dealers are watching you, and others around you
7-8 Luck :: Gamblers "make" their own luck. Since you can't make it, just boost it up
3-5 Agility :: You may think he'd be agile, but he won't be. It's just not how it works. Agility comes from intense training to train your body to be Agile. Gamblers tend to drink.
3-5 Strength :: Another one which is only ever going to be average. They rely on talking.
5-7 Endurance:: This may seem odd but, for how much he drinks, and can stay awake in a casino to keep himself gambling, it works. Also, if hes a cheat, odds are he took some beatings in his time and has toughened up a bit.
5-7 Intelligence :: Gotta be decently smart to count cards and whatnot.

TAGS::
Speech :: Obviously since he's a smooth talker
Unarmed :: Well you really can't go into casino with guns. You can sneak in peashooters, but seriously. You're gonna get wrecked trying to rob a casino with a god damned 9mm.
Barter // Science :: Up to you. I say science because, hey. You can count cards, and you're pretty smart, so why not. Else, go with Barter since, you're a smooth talker, remember?

Since you "Level up", you'll gain skills on your travels and whatnot, so you can level guns if you want.

This would be your ideal gambler style, if you're gonna go for realism.
