Characer build advice please

I already know the type of character I'm building in a sense, he does not care about the bickering between the factions, his home is the wasteland, he has no interest in vegas or luxury suites, he ekes out a living by hunting animals, harvesting wild plants and trading with small settlements like Goodsprings and Novac(that's the only time he goes near any settlements), oh and he will do some scavanging, his major skills are small guns and survival.

I've now hit level 10 and need to select a perk, two perks stand out but I'm unsure which is the best to take,"Animal Friend" or "Night Person"; the option screen has been stuck upon my screen for over 10 minutes now and I cannot make up my mind, so I'm hoping some of you good folk can come up with some good suggestions, your suggestions do not need to be limited to the two I've stated but those are the ones that stand out to me, please give me your suggestions and why?

Well, he doesn't sound much like an animal friend to me.

I get what you are saying, but Animal friends would allow an easy kill while hunting, but having said that, my characters gun build allows for relatively easy kills anyway.

It would make for easy kills, yes. But since you seem to be heavy in the roleplay, it's not inline with the character, he's not a friend to animals.

This is very true, but this does not mean he kills them for the joy of it, as an example he has passed a coyote mother guarding her pups, he knows to keep his distance and she will not attack, maybe not an animal friend but he won't kill the mother and the pups, he also recognizes the mother will not attack risking herself and her pups so long as he keeps his distance.
