How to keep NCR from hating you?

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 12:05 am

Alright, right now, I'm doing my Legion playthrough which I'm loving. But I'm at a point where the NCR quest "Don't Tread on the Bear" is activated. But I ignored it thinking it'll be just like Mr. House and Yes Man playthroughs. Then I finish one quest but NCR now shoots me even though I have idolized reputation.

How do I keep NCR from shooting me until the Hoover Dam end quest? I AM on PC Version, I have access to both mods and console commands.

You can't. If you help the Legion, they will ALWAYS try to kill you regardless for your reputation. With House and Yes Man, you're just not helping them but not actively opposing them. With the Legion, you're actively showing your support in trying to destroy NCR along with supporting their main enemy.

Your siding with the enemy, we have eyes and ears everywhere and if you continue to aid the Legion then we will be forced to bring you to justice.

Then is there a mod or console command that disables that script? I'd like to have access to the majority of towns.

Wear NCR faction armor.

Vukodlak is quite astute. What's cooler than infiltrating the NCR a la Vulpes Inculta? Granted, it'd be nice if there was a way to disguise as somebody from the Strip without dressing like NCR.

The second option is to refrain from finishing the legion questline until your ready for the final push. I can't quite recall which mission for the legion will burn the bridge with the NCR though.

The third option, and my personal favorite, is to just murder the [censored] out of everyone on Fortification Hill.

We're discussing how to keep the NCR from going hostile while still serving the Legion.

If you want to discuss being a huge, self-righteous dbag no better than those he kills, please make your own thread.

I love the Rangers who give you the quest, they give me 3 days, I send them home in body bags.

Well fine. I guess it makes sense but it's a little annoying that I have to wait until I finish all the NCR quests that I want to complete before moving onto slaughtering the Brotherhood of Steel. But is there ANY kind of console command or mod? Come on guys.

Sorry, 'DarkZerker, I cant help you as I'm a (clueless) PS3 gamer. I was wondering though, when the 'quest' 'Dont step on the bear' showed up.. was it actually a quest you could do anything with?
I'm confused, I am pro-NCR and didnt realise Yes-man was important and was hanging out with him, then I get the quest 'dont step on the bear' but it doesent seem to be a quest, just a warning?
Even though I've stopped talking to yesman and am assisting the ncr %99, the warning is still there..
I was just wondering if this is what you have also experienced, or if this is a massive bug..!

No. It's just a warning that you're about to take an irreversible step as far as main plot/faction goes. If you ignore it & keep going, you get a Failed Quest message. Otherwise IIRC it stays there, probably as a constant reminder.

@DarkZerker - Actions & consequences. It's what the game is about. The game is, imo, pretty clear that the NCR & Legion are vital enemies. It's possible there's a console command but messing with such things can be tricky/cause problems themselves. Do a search on the fallout wiki for 'console commands', maybe you'll find something. Or reload an earlier save.
