I still can't add cards to my caravan deck

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 7:37 am

I can't add bought cards to my caravan deck.

I have seen the posts about this issue. The solutions offered are along the lines of 'place your caravan deck in a container/pony express box' or 'drop your caravan deck then pick it up'.

Problem is I can see the deck when I view inventory via pip-boy but the caravan deck doesn't show up when I'm looking at inventory via a container screen.
Also, I can't drop the deck and pick it back up. When I try to drop it it says something like 'can't drop quest item'.

Anyone had this issue and can offer a solution?

I dont know if its true but I heard that the workaround was to give your loose (bought) cards to your companion. Then close the interface. Then re-open it and take them back from your companion. Or something like that. Basically taking them from the companion may trigger their addition into the deck correctly. I havent tried it for myself yet.

I pulled my cards out of the safe I was storing them in. Open pets inventory. They don't show up when looking at pets inventory. (By pet I mean the cowgirl)

Weird. They show up for me when I'm examining my follower inventory.

Now, they dont show up under MISC or any other category. I only see them when looking at everything, so I have to scroll through the whole list. But I do see them.

That's what I'm talking (typing?) about.
I can see them (the caravan deck) in inventory via pip-boy but nowhere else.

I have the same problem thats why i never played caravan, with the starting deck i always loose to people with better decks... I have a ton of cards each taking a invetory space but i cant combine them, so i tossed em all into the my box after i got sick of sifting through a cluster [censored] misc inventory

Dump your cards into a container,
Close that window.
Reopen the container,
pick up the cards.

The cards are now added to your Caravan Deck.

its the same bug as when you buy ammo in boxes - you get the boxes instead of the ammo. but you fix that by dropping the boxes on the ground and picking them up again.
Not sure if that works with cards tbh. but the container thing works.

Maybe we are talking about 2 different things then.

My issue was that my cards weren't going to my caravan deck. I could see them in the pip boy but only un-categorized. But I can also see them when interacting with my follower, so long as I'm looking at my un-categorized list. So for me, it was tedious, but I was able to move them to my follower and back.

I did see on the fallout nexus forum a patch that supposedly will fix or add your cards into your deck. You might try it. No promises tho. I didnt read the review or try it myself, and I dont have the link handy. But there was a caravan deck fix mod. If you are on the PC.

Well I don't play the Caravan game so I don't know anything about it... was just trying to be constructive and possibly point you in a more helpful direction. I don't know what platform you play on but you're more likely to get a concrete response there. I had a fast travelling issue I posted in the PC Issues thread, I received one reply from a moderator within an hour, problem solved.

woah. you mean your cards are supposed to be in a deck?! you mean taking up one slot in your inventory!?! seriously? I just thought your deck was all your cards everywhere. I stopped buying em and threw all mine away because it was clogging up my inventory so much.

maybe I'll try the container thing on an earlier save. sweet. :whistling:

I dont know, mine work fine, but took a while, since I only buy Ultra Luxe and Lucky 38 cards.

I'm having a similar problem. The first batch of cards I bought, I just dropped and picked back up and then when opening the Caravan interface (when playing a game) I could add the new cards into my deck. Now that I've got a nice bunch of cards to make a loaded deck with, I can't seem to ever add them to the deck. Doesn't matter much as I rarely lose, but maybe I'm missing a step:

1. Find/buy cards
2. Open inventory and highlight card(s)
3. Drop cards or place in container
4. Reacquire cards
5. Open Caravan game through dialogue
6. Add/subtract cards from deck

Am I missing something in that equation (like doing something with the actual deck while it's in my inventory)?

As has been already clarified above, but I'll try again:

1. Put the cards (not the deck) you have in a container. The cards only show up under your name, not under Misc, as they do when you normally open your inventory. Don't ask me why, that's just the way it is :)
2. Close the container interface.
3. Reopen the container and add all the cards back to you.
4. Close container interface.
5. Open your inventory. All your cards should have disappeared. This means they were added to your deck. You don't have to do anything in the Caravan interface. They will automatically appear in there on the bottom.

Do the same for boxes of primers, surplus ammo (which is useless anyway) and jars of powder.

Yeah I have a bunch of loose cards that have not been added to my caravan deck. Sometimes selling them to a vendor, then buying them back triggers the script to add them to your caravan deck, but unfortunately it does not always work... =/

I have a bunch of 6s, 10s, Jacks and Kings I want to add to my deck too... >.<

I need to try the container thing too, maybe I'll have better luck with that.

Even quicker:
1) Dump cards in container
1) Remove cards from container.

Not that I can tell. Exact same steps I follow and they work for me. I wonder if there could be a problem with dulicate cards? I have left duplicate cards out of my deck.
